Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season. Keep in mind that on such a small slate and with the pitchers from which we have to choose, the data is very limited.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. We’ve got an interesting group of notable base-stealers at shorter odds, so here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Thursday, September 24:

Favorite Bets: 

Pete Crow-Armstrong, Chicago Cubs (+141) – Just because the odds are lower doesn’t mean we ignore PCA, who is putting the finishing touches on a spectacular MVP season. Take the low-hanging fruit, people. There’s nothing wrong with it. Betting is about winning, not picking out the most random bets. Marlins righty Tyler Phillips usually gets three or four innings, and he’s coughed up 14 steals, most on the slate. PCA should have no issues getting on-base and taking one for us.

Bobby Witt Jr., Kansas City Royals (+369) – For longer odds than we had yesterday, of course we’re coming back to Witt. He’s on a five-game hit streak with nine hits over that span and has three stolen bases over his last eight games. White Sox righty Dave Sandlin does nothing for me, and the White Sox catchers, with their combined 27-percent caught-stealing rate, put them slightly below average. Witt has been a big part of our success this season, so we’re going to ride this till the end.
