🔥 Best Matchups for Home Runs Today, 9/26: Ballpark Factors & Weather Impact

This final weekend doesn’t require us to check on the wind at Wrigley Field that greatly impacts MLB home run picks, but we will still always check in with our MLB weather report first and foremost. We always want to avoid providing targets that may not even take the box, which is even more of an issue given fluctuating lineups in these final days.

While official ones should still be monitored, prior to those being released, we can still break down all the usual metrics like barrel rates, hard-hit rates, expected slugging/ISO, righty/lefty splits, average exit velocities and more. What we won’t need to wait for lineups to consider is bullpen performances, which also significantly impact MLB home run picks.

Kazuma Okamoto (+470)

Yesterday, we saw one of our staples on the mound with Tomoyuki Sugano, even if he wasn’t at home at Coors Field. Well, we have a similar situation today, as we love picking on Cincinnati Reds starter Rhett Lowder. Although he is also away from the Great American Ball Park, we’re still going to pick on him with our best MLB home run picks for today.

We also have to admit that we would really prefer it if it wasn’t the Toronto Blue Jays lineup that we got to choose from, but it’s not COMPLETELY void of targets. The fact that Vladdy is still trying for his 10th homer is crazy, and while he could still go yard, we’ll focus on the guy with 33 homers and .202 ISO vs. righties.

Taking on a lefty would be better, but we’re still going to lead off our best MLB home run picks for today with Kazuma Okamoto hitting a HR (+470 at FanDuel). 

Francisco Lindor (+525)

Shortly after that Reds vs. Blue Jays matchup is an NL East rivalry of Mets vs. Nationals, so you already know where we’re going with this one; Washington’s bullpen is incredibly bad. Specifically, they allow a TON of power, as they remain the only relief unit that has allowed more than 100 MLB home run picks to cash (110, in fact).

That’s great news for a New York lineup to try and feel better about themselves after a disappointing season, especially since Connelly Early is starting ahead of that terrible bullpen. He’s far from a bad starter, but he’s returning after three months on the IL, and as a lefty, we prefer the switch hitter rather than the lefty hitter that is Juan Soto.

National Park is solid for homers, so let’s add to our top MLB home run picks today with Francisco Lindor hitting a HR (16%, so +525, at Novig). 

Miguel Vargas (+440)

We could just stick with the nightcap at the Triple-A ballpark here (we hit our longshot here two nights ago as well), but we’re going to spin things back to the Colorado Rockies with a teammate of last night’s winner - Munetaka Murakami. We mentioned Sugano, and although Colorado remains on the road, we still expect to see some MLB home run picks come through in this Rockies vs. White Sox matchup.

With Jose Quintana and Davis Martin as the listed starters, both lineups can hit some dingers. The most interesting part about those names is that the former, who is a lefty, allows unbelievable power to fellow lefties. However, with such a small sample size, that’s not going to keep us off a righty, especially one that has had an unreal season vs. southpaw pitchers.

Our top three target has an amazing .273 expected ISO against them, so let’s add to our best MLB home run picks for today with Miguel Vargas hitting a HR (18.5%, so +440, at Novig).
