The time has arrived for the Mid-Season Invitational! Now this is sometimes criticized on it’s format and how many games are played, but it goes without saying how much of a litmus test it is for the leagues looking towards their Summer split. The best teams from each of the leagues are here to compete and see who should be seen as the real threat in October at the World Championships. With most of the early rounds of play being very chalk, finding the best performers will be key, especially for League of Legends DFS! Let’s dive in!

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Game #1: Saigon Buffalo v T1 Esports

Game Breakdown: There should really be no parity here. While I think T1 Esports will be challenged (and I think lose in the semifinals), there should be no effort needed in wrapping up this win tomorrow. T1 is coming in with one of the most talented bottom laners in Gumayusi and I think the most controlled jungler in Oner. The Buffalo have three players listed as ADC and that screams that this team lacks identity. You also should note that the Saigon Buffalo are the second seed coming out of Vietnam, as the actual winners opted out for the Asian Games. I could see this match turning into a sub-30 minute game with little resistance from David against this Goliath.

Favorite Picks: Gumayusi (T1: $12,000/$8,000), Oner (T1: $7,200), Keria (T1: $6,200), T1 Esports ($5,400)

Value Picks: Hamsed (SGB: $5,800)

Cann’s Match Pick: T1 Esports

Game #2: Detonation FocuseMe v Team Aze

Game Breakdown: I think this match may be closer than most will believe and I think fading DFM players in place of AZE may give you an edge if there is an “upset” here. There is no doubting the pedigree that DFM brings to the table. They have been the premier League of Legends team in Japan for years now and even had a 7th place finish at the 2021 MSI tournament. The problem? They are a slow methodical team and they have downgraded in the middle lane with Yaharong. Evi in the top lane will be a player to watch for DFM and his unique champion pool can make some early game advantages. I think for AZE, they need to lean into the more wild LAM playstyles and push DFM off their more macro-style play. I think in purly comparing both teams ability to play the map, DFM is better. Muddying the waters will be a angle for AZE and an emphasis on getting their hard carry ADC in 5kid.

Favorite Picks: Yutapon (DFM: $11,400/$7,600), Evi (DFM: $6,200),

Value Picks: 5kid (AZE: $10,800/$7,200), Straight (AZE: $5,200), AZE ($4,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: Team Aze

Game #3: G2 Esports v Order

Game Breakdown: Much like the T1 match to start the tournament, there is absolutely no reason for this to be a close match. G2 made a miracle run in the LEC Spring Split playoffs and took out every major team to make it to MSI as the Champions of the split. They did this with a rookie bottom lane and after having to find a way to redefine themselves. Flakked won’t be the flashiest ADC in the tournament so don’t feel pressured to spend your G2 money there. Instead, I would urge you to drop your salary cap cash on BrokenBlade in the top lane. He is one of the few top laners across all leagues that I can point to and say that he can carry his team from a role that doesn’t really support that type of playstyle. Not only that, G2 will play through him as a win condition which means he should have even higher point production here.

Favorite Picks: BrokenBlade (G2: $6,800), Caps (G2: $7,600), Jankos (G2: $7,000), G2 Esports ($5,200)

Value Picks: Kevy (ORD: $6,000)

Cann’s Match Pick: G2 Esports
