The LCS is back and it feels bigger than ever before! Huge changes across the league will make this feel more like the beginning of a new year rather than the return from the Mid-Season break. With players like Jensen, Zven, and Gamsu return to the main stage after time away and they are looking to make an immediate impact for their squads. Teams like CLG, Immortals, and Team Solomid have shifted their lineups to try and have better showings this split. Who will be the best players this split? Which teams will punch their ticket to the World Championship? Let’s dive in!

League of Legends Fantasy Value Breakdown
Game #1: Evil Geniuses v Cloud9
Game Breakdown: There are almost always “upsets” in the LCS because they play “Best-Of-1” matches. This game seems like the perfect place for an upset because of the “MSI Hangover” for Evil Geniuses combined with the serious changes to Cloud9 over the break. Teams who make the Final Four at MSI traditionally have had slow starts to their Summer Splits because they have less time to practice on new patches combined with less time to recover from weeks of competition. Evil Geniuses captured their first LCS Championship this past split by combining a straight-forward draft approach (draft Danny a hypercarry and keep jojopyun safe) but the current meta doesn’t support that approach as well. Look for this game to be decided in the jungle with C9’s Blaber and his aggressive playstyle versus EG’s Inspired with a more controlled approach.
Favorite Picks: Danny (EG: $11,100/$7,400), Inspired (EG: $7,000)
Value Picks: Fudge (C9: $5,600), Blaber (C9: $6,400), Jensen (C9: $6,800)
Cann’s Match Pick: Cloud9
Game #2: Golden Guardians v FlyQuest
Game Breakdown: This was a hard match to pick and it is because in my mind, the two teams are similar. Both had moments of brilliance in the Spring Split but were so far away from the top teams that they feel almost irrelevant. One of my highlights to this match though is Golden Guardian’s top laner, Licorice. He was the homegrown NA talent before Blaber and many throughout the region looked to him as the standard of what a non-imported talent could be. Since his departure from C9, he has struggled to have the same consistent impact on a lineup as he once had. Much of that is a combination of his role (the top lane is less impactful than most other roles) and being surrounded by lesser talent. With Stixxay and Ablazeolive as the carries for his team, Licorice should have a better time focusing on his matchup against Philip. With Philip being an unproven rookie, there could be a great chance for GG to focus on funneling resources into the once flashy young NA talent and use Licorice as a tool to snowball into the late game.
Favorite Picks: Licorice (GG: $6,000), AblazeOlive (GG: $7,000), Golden Guardians ($4,800)
Value Picks: Johnsun (FLY: $6,800), Josedeodo (FLY: $6,200)
Cann’s Match Pick: Golden Guardians
Game #3: 100 Thieves v Team Solomid
Game Breakdown: Team Solomid has spent the entirety of their break seemingly doing damage control over a wide range of scandals. From player managers/team executives stealing money to the face-of-the-franchise CEO fighting off allegations of a toxic work environment. They made one important change and that was to slot the once Taiwanese super-star, Maple. Maple has spent his last few years in the LPL having a minimal impact but TSM thinks he could come in and provide a much-needed spark. He faces a well-disciplined 100 Thieves team who failed in the Spring Split Championship to defend their crown at the top of the LCS, so expect a strong performance straight out of the gate from them. Abbedagge may enjoy the tankier champions, helping prevent him from giving up really senseless deaths throughout the game and keeping his large leads that he makes in the laning phase.
Favorite Picks: FBI (100: $12,000/$), Closer (100: $7,400), huhi (100: $6,000)
Value Picks: Maple (TSM: $6,400), Huni (TSM: $5,400)
Cann’s Match Pick: 100 Thieves
Game #4: Immortals v Team Liquid
Game Breakdown: The only thing you need to know about this matchup that helps illustrate how one-sided this affair should be is that Team Liquid’s support (CoreJJ) has a higher dollar amount in the captain role than any player on Immortals. Team Liquid have to feel like they have left something on the table for the Spring Split. They have the most talented roster ever assembled in the region with probably the best bottom lane in NA of Hans Sama and Core JJ. It is hard to measure teams, like Immortals, when they make drastic changes but into TL we should expect a very fast game.
Favorite Picks: Bjergsen (TL: $11,700/$7,800), Hans sama (TL: $11,700/$7,800), CoreJJ (TL: $6,200), Team Liquid ($5,800)
Value Picks: Kenvi (IMT: $5,400), IgNar (IMT: $3,800)
Cann’s Match Pick: Team Liquid
Game #5: Team Dignitas v Counter Logic Gaming
Game Breakdown: This will be a match that feels acceptable to skip at the end of the night. Both of these teams are without a real cornerstone player. DIG will rely heavily on the late-game team fighting of Neo to capitalize on any early jungle aggression out of River from the early game. I think the addition of Gamsu for DIG may add an interesting wrinkle, but Gamsu’s biggest contribution will be game knowledge, not individual skill. I expect this to be a low-scoring affair with the only real possibility of big points for CLG coming through their ADC, Luger. Luger has shown that if you can get him a strong late-game pick and almost total focus throughout the game, he can carry his team. Those requirements though are almost unattainable and many times can put unneeded pressure on his team to deliver. High pressure means a higher likelihood of serious mistakes.
Favorite Picks: River (DIG: $6,800), Gamsu (DIG: $6,400), Team Dignitas ($5,400)
Value Picks: Luger (CLG: $6,200), Contractz (CLG: $5,600)
Cann’s Match Pick: Team Dignitas
