If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime.

We take this adage to heart when it comes to playing NFL DFS. The Fantasy Alarm Playbook isn’t just about handing you a list of players and a lineup to use each week. It is designed to help you learn to be a better DFS player. It’s about teaching you the process used in selecting which players to scout and, eventually, which ones to use.

Therefore, we will begin each week with the Weekly NFL DFS Watch List which is designed to keep tabs on marquee names, chalk plays and, of course, the weekly bargains who may not see the same coverage and exposure. This piece will be continuously updated throughout the week, based on the most recent news and injuries which means you may see a name or two removed as we get closer to kick-off. You may also see a few late-week additions who pique our interest for some reason too, and by the end of the week, this Watch List will eventually become your Playbook. Again, it’s about teaching you the process.

This is actually going to be a very interesting main slate this week because we've got four teams (Buffalo, Chicago, Indianapolis and Oakland) on a bye and an early-morning London game between the Bucs and the Panthers. Taking off the usual Thursday, Sunday night and Monday games, we are then left with just 10 games and one of those is Washington at Miami. Yuck! We're going to probably have to dig deep to find some real value, so let's start here in the Watch List.

PLAYERS ADDED (10/9):

Case Keenum , QB WAS, Alvin Kamara , RB NO, Chris Carson , RB SEA, Carlos Hyde , RB HOU, Terry McLaurin , WR WAS, Robert Woods , WR LAR

PLAYERS ADDED (10/11):

Russell Wilson , QB SEA, Devonta Freeman , RB ATL, Derrick Henry , RB TEN, Malcolm Brown , RB LAR, Tyler Lockett , WR SEA, Will Fuller , WR HOU, Jeremy Sprinkle , TE WAS

**Take notice of some of the updates in the breakdowns of players previously listed

THURSDAY NIGHT MATCH-UP

New York Giants at New England Patriots

As a reminder, check out the Game Preview of tonight’s game from Ryan Hallam.

Injury Notes:

New England:

Phillip Dorsett (hamstring) -- out

Josh Gordon (knee) -- questionable but expected to play

Julian Edelman (chest) -- questionable but expected to play

Rex Burkhead (foot) -- questionable but likely to play

New York:

Evan Engram (knee) -- expected to be out

Sterling Shepard (concussion) -- expected to be out

Wayne Gallman (concussion) -- expected to be out

Saquon Barkley (ankle) -- expected to be out

Spread: Patriots -17

O/U: 42

Weather:

Supposed to be in the low-50s with light showers early and heavier rain late. The heavy stuff should lay off until very late though, possibly even after the game. Still going to be a little wet out there.

Match-Up History:

Pretty sure we all know the history between these two teams, but given the injuries to the entire NY Giants team, the changes to the Giants coaching staff and the fact that it's Daniel Jones instead of Eli Manning , the past match-ups seem pointless.

We'll always have David Tyree thought, right Patriots fans?

If you are playing the Showdown Slate, here’s who I like:

Tom Brady , QB NE -- While the weather sand the ease of this contests would indicate a quiet night for Brady, it's also an opportune time for him to connect with his receivers and exploit a very soft defense. He'll have almost all of his weapons at his disposal and we're always in a good spot for some revenge against an organization that took the Super Bowl and the perfect season away from them.

Daniel Jones, QB NYG -- You would have to think he'll be throwing as much as possible while sitting in catch-up mode for likely the entire game. He's got a few no-names out there, but hey...garbage-time points count too, right?

Sony Michel , RB NE -- The Patriots should use Michel heavily in the early goings of the game in an effort to chew up the clock, score some points and get out of the rain.

Jon Hilliman, RB NYG -- Maybe the Patriots are sleeping on this match-up and he breaks a long run whille they're napping.

Josh Gordon , WR NE -- Should benefit from a very soft secondary and we could see a nice, deep TD from him while Janoris Jenkins is trying to cover him.

Julian Edelman , WR NE -- Always a facot, especially in a game where weather could be an issue. If the Patriots want to move the ball with short quick passes, he'll likely be the biggest beneficiary.

Darius Slay ton, WR NYG -- How about a little garbage-time TD towards the end of the game? Sounds very plausible.

Rhett Ellison , TE NYG -- If looking for a low-owned deep-dive, e should see some targets from Jones, especially if the Giants can get themselves into the red zone.

Patriots Defense -- Is there any reason not to have them in your Captain's Seat or MVP slot? I don't think so.
