2023 Player Outlook

Many were expecting either rookie James Cook or Nyheim Hines to take a chunk of the pass-down work in Buffalo but Devin Singletary ended up playing the sixth most pass snaps of any back in the league last season, largely due to his pass-blocking prowess. He now joins a Texans backfield where Pro Football Focus graded the incumbent Dameon Pierce outside the top 120 backs in pass blocking. If you put two and two together, it seems likely that Pierce will be used on run downs with Singletary contributing on pass downs which makes him an interesting late-round target on a Texans team that should be playing from behind often.
