2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Morel continues to play all over for Chicago, and that won't change in 2024. Fantasy managers will enjoy his multi-positional eligibility, and while Morel hasn't run as much as we all somewhat expected, the power has come on in a massive way. In 107 games last season, he slugged 26 home runs and 17 doubles, but only logged eight stolen base attempts (6 SB). Morel makes a ton of hard contact, and his expected statistics last year are off the charts. However, his inability to make consistent contact make him susceptible to lengthy droughts, and he figures to be a streaky hitter in the majors. Last year, he posted a 17.1 percent swinging strike rate and 65.6 percent contact rate!

2024 Outlook: Strikeouts are going to be a part of his game, but when the going is good, like his nine home runs and .296 average in 19 May games, things are good. However, when the going is bad, it's really bad, like his .149 average and 37 percent strikeout rate in the month of August. If he can improve on his contact rates in the slightest, his average will go up, and his power will shine. His current ADP is palatable for someone with such a disparity between his ceiling and floor.
