2023 Player Outlook
One of the best young catchers in baseball, Ruiz is in no danger of losing at-bats to a second catcher on the roster. The Nationals are devoted to giving Ruiz as much time to develop as possible and that came in handy last year when he posted a .251/.313/.360 slash line with seven homers, 36 RBI, 33 R, and six steals in 112 games. The only downside to Ruiz is that he’s on the rebuilding Nationals whose offense is still a couple of years away from being at least solid. Heading into 2023 though we should see him take another step forward with his bat as the burgeoning power should show up more with 12-15 homers and perhaps 50-50 in the RBI-R tally, All of this while still keeping his slash line similar as his approach at the plate keeps him from giving too many at-bats away.
