2024 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: After hitting for virtually no power in 2022, Gurriel's power stroke returned in 2023, as he posted career highs in home runs (24) and doubles (35), while posting a .201 ISO. He loved his new home park, as he posted an .830 OPS and .254 ISO at home last season. Along with the power returning, his swinging strike rate dropped to a career-low 8.1 percent, and amongst qualified hitters, his 92.3 percent zone contact rate was the 14th-best rate in the MLB.

2024 Outlook: While I expect a slight drop in his home run total in 2024, I think his batting average can improve a bit, though his counting stats may take a bit of a hit as he'll likely hit lower in the order than he did last year with the team getting Joc Pederson and Eugenio Suarez in the offseason. However, he's a quality bat for fantasy purposes that you can get, on average, outside the top 225 players overall. However, keep in mind that if he loses some power, he doesn't run a ton, making him mainly a batting average guy with 20 home runs, give or take a few.
