2022 Player Outlook
Martinez enjoyed a big bounce back season. He took a more aggressive approach at the plate, swung the bat more and the positive results followed. Martinez’s exit velocity rebounded, his Statcast hard hit rate took a big jump from the 2020 season, and his batting average rebounded and was right around his career norm. Whether or not you believe it effects a player’s performance, Martinez is in the last year of his contract. Based on his expected stats we can probably believe in Martinez’s 2021 resurgence and should expect another season where he hits for a good average, slugs close to 30 HRs and drives in 90 plus runs. We also have the added bonus of Martinez being OF eligible this season.
