Brett Anderson coughed up three runs over 2 2/3 innings on Saturday in a Cactus League start against the Rangers.

Anderson surrendered four hits, including an RBI single to Isiah Kiner-Falefa and a two-run double to Ronald Guzman in the opening frame. He struck out a pair of batters and only issued one walk in this one. He appears to be fine after being scratched from his scheduled Cactus League start on Tuesday due to flu-like symptoms. The 32-year-old southpaw, who inked a one-year deal this offseason, has allowed five runs (four earned) with a 4/2 K/BB ratio across three innings this spring, and appears to be locked into the Brewers’ Opening Day rotation. He recorded a 3.89 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 90/49 K/BB ratio across 176 innings of work (31 starts) with the Athletics last season. There’s some NL-only appeal lurking here, but Anderson simply doesn’t miss enough bats to warrant a mixed-league investment entering the 2020 campaign. Mar 07 6:05 pm (EST)
