WNBA DFS Playbook August 7: Top DraftKings & FanDuel WNBA DFS Picks
It feels like it has been a long time since we have had two different WNBA DFS slates. There are four games on the schedule, but if you want players from all four games in one lineup, DraftKings is your spot. FanDuel offers all four games, but in two separate three-game slates. The main slate only features the three early games, while the late game is in the late slate along with the two 3 p.m. ET games. I really love Atlanta’s guards against Minnesota tonight, so their presence or absence in the slate could drastically change lineup construction.
Guards | ||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Aari McDonald | #N/A | #N/A | 6400 | 20.02 | ### | #N/A |
I thought McDonald would play more with Tiffany Hayes out, but Maya Caldwell got most of her minutes instead.
Maya Caldwell | #N/A | #N/A | 5100 | 18.9 | ### | #N/A |
Caldwell has played at least 23 minutes with at least 10 field goal attempts in both games since joining Atlanta on a hardship contract, averaging 25.4 fantasy points in those games. With Kristi Wallace in the health and safety protocols, Caldwell has a chance to get even more minutes and shots Sunday.
Sue Bird | SEA | LV | 7900 | 21.56 | ### | 20.73 |
Your mileage my vary on how much you care about Bird playing the last regular season home game of her storied career. I tend to think we will see a vintage performance, but it is certainly possible that all of the buildup and attention has the opposite effect. More importantly, at least for me, is that Bird has played at least 26 minutes and scored at least 23 fantasy points in four straight games. With Seattle just a half-game ahead of Washington for the fourth seed, I think Bird will keep her streak going and provide solid value.
Rhyne Howard | #N/A | #N/A | #### | 31.02 | ### | #N/A |
I don't necessarily love playing three Atlanta guards, but I am considering it. Minnesota has struggled to defend guards all season, and Howard has scored at least 37 fantasy points in three straight games.
Jewell Loyd | SEA | LV | 9300 | 27.37 | ### | 26.39 |
Loyd remains underpriced on FanDuel after she has scored at least 26 fantasy points in three straight games. She averaged 29.6 fantasy points in two games against Las Vegas, making her playable on DK as well.
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Jordin Canada | LA | WAS | 7200 | 21.95 | ### | 22.10 |
Canada has scored at least 22 fantasy points in three of her last four games. I don't like the matchup but her price on DK is low and she is a nice alternative if you are fading Sue Bird or you don't want to play Atlanta's entire backcourt.
Natisha Hiedeman | CON | CHI | 6700 | 19.22 | ### | 18.78 |
She has been inconsistent all season, but she was very good in back-to-back games against Phoenix. I love her price on FanDuel even if I don't entirely trust her.
DeWanna Bonner | CON | CHI | 8500 | 26.91 | ### | 26.76 |
Like Alyssa Thomas, DeWanna Bonner has been very good against Chicago, averaging 30.3 fantasy points. Bonner's floor is as high as any guard's even if her price doesn't quite reach the top tier. |
Forwards | ||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Elena Delle Donne | WAS | LA | #### | 31.77 | ### | 31.43 |
Delle Donne struggled a bit for fantasy through three games in four days, but I fully expect her to bounce back after four days' rest. Delle Donne scored 38.5 fantasy points in 27.3 minutes in her only game against the Sparks, and I expect similar production Sunday.
Olivia Nelson-Ododa | LA | WAS | 6500 | 9.46 | ### | 9.90 |
She has played at least 24 minutes in three straight games, averaging 24.9 fantasy points in that span. If Chiney Ogwumike is out again, Nelson-Ododa should be a solid fantasy play once again.
Brionna Jones | CON | CHI | 7600 | 24.69 | ### | 25.19 |
Jones hasn't been super consistent of late, but that is true of all of the forwards in her price range. Jones has been consistent against Chicago, averaging 26.1 minutes and 29.5 fantasy points in three meetings. If she does that again, she will be a very nice fantasy value.
Shakira Austin | WAS | LA | 8400 | 19.91 | ### | 20.23 |
Austin is ending the season like she started it, playing at least 22 minutes and scoring at least 23 fantasy points in four straight games. She has actually been better of late when Elena Delle Donne plays, and I like her chances against the Sparks' depleted frontcourt.
Alyssa Thomas | CON | CHI | #### | 35.91 | ### | 35.13 |
There is very little to separate the top three forwards Sunday, but Thomas gets the nod because she is significantly cheaper on FD, and just $100 more than A'ja Wilson on DK. Thomas is averaging 44.1 fantasy points in her last four games and 38.8 fantasy points in three games against Chicago. |
