Liberty vs. Lynx Predictions For WNBA On ESPN, 7/30

Having just shared that these are the top two teams to win the WNBA Finals this season, it's quite surprising to now share that they are both looking to bounce back. Despite having a combined 39-13 record, both teams are entering this game off a loss.

In fact, New York is coming off back-to-back losses, which is as surprising as it gets for the defending champs. Of course, a recent Brenna Stewart injury doesn’t help things, and we’ve got more on that coming up. Regardless, this is the first time we’ve seen these juggernauts meet, and they’re going to do so twice over the next 10 days.

Many fans may be predicting a game with a ton of points, as they’re the top two scoring teams in the WNBA. However, the Liberty vs. Lynx odds suggest just an average matchup in that regard, as of course, these teams also have stellar defenses.

Something’s gotta give, and the best bang for our buck, we’ve found a spot we love for the best bet from our Liberty vs. Lynx predictions!

New York Liberty: Breanna Stewart Injury Update

In a WNBA season that has unfortunately had some significant injury concerns, primarily the likes of the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark, the Liberty have not been immune to them either. Almost immediately after getting Jonquel Jones back from injury, we saw superstar Breanna Stewart go down.

She left New York’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks over the weekend early, and she was ultimately ruled out against the Wings on Monday night. It didn’t take long for that loss to be felt, as not a single Liberty player had double digits in the first half against Dallas, a team with the absolute worst record in the Western Conference.

Minnesota Lynx: Home Sweet Home No More

Well, it finally came to an end. After obliterating the Las Vegas Aces by a whopping 31 points to go to 14-0 at home this season, that streak finally came to an end this past weekend. It came by the hands of the Atlanta Dream, who are trying to make a run at the New York Liberty in the Eastern Conference.

Specifically, it was Atlanta's Brittney Griner’s season-high 22 points that led the way in ending that streak. That was despite Napheesa Collier’s incredible 32-point night, along with eight boards and seven assists. Just like the team remains clear favorites to win the Western Conference, Collier remains the favorite to win MVP.

Liberty vs. Lynx Best Bet: Kayla McBride Over 12.5 Points (-117 At Novig)

This may be the first meeting of these two teams this season, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look back at their most recent clashes from last year (in the WNBA Finals). After all, it’s not as if these were drastically different squads.

There’s no denying that Minnesota didn’t get nearly as much love last year, thanks to the Las Vegas Aces taking all the attention in the Western Conference as they went for their threepeat. However, let’s not forget that it was actually the Lynx that finished with the best record in the West at 30-10, just two games worse than the Liberty as well.

Unsurprisingly, in their five-game WNBA Finals series, it was largely Collier who kept Minnesota in it. However, we can’t ignore Kayla McBride, and like the Lynx as a whole need to do, we expect her to bounce back.

The Lynx guard had just four points against the Dream back on Sunday night, but she is capable of so much more. Not only is she averaging 14 points per game this year, but we also saw her score a team-leading 19 points against the Liberty to help Minnesota avoid elimination in Game 4.

It’s a new season this year no doubt, but we still love Kayla McBride over 12.5 points (-117 at Novig) as the best bet from our Liberty vs. Lynx predictions!
