As I’ve mentioned in my article yesterday, the cream of the crop on the PGA Tour were invited to play in the WGC-Match Play and everyone else heads to the Dominican Republic for the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.  Your top priced player on the board is a Jhonattan Vegas.  Throughout the 10K and 9K salaries, you’ve got guys who would typically be in the 7K & 6K range.  We've got players from the Korn Ferry Tour and the European Tour participating this weekend, a lot of whom you don't get to see on a regular basis.  I'm sure some of these guys use this event as a work/vacation in the Dominican, I’m sure a few of them would rather take the week off.

So, let’s take a look at the Corales Golf Club which is a basic stock par 72 that opened in 2010.  The course is long, reaching nearly 7,700 yards, both the par 5s can stretch beyond 620 yards.  The greens are just about 11 feet on the Stimpmeter which doesn’t pose much of a challenge but if you look at the last four winners of this event, they’ve all lit it up on the greens.  The primary rough is cut to around two inches but fairways are accommodating, so long hitters and tee-to-green tacticians both will have success on this course.

We love nicknames like the Bear Trap and the Snake Pit for a three hole stretch, well let me introduce you to “The Devil’s Elbow”.  While those other places are known for their difficulty, these three holes (16, 17, and 18) are known for giving players a chance to win down the stretch.

We should not have any weather concerns this week, it'll be partly cloudy with temperatures in the low 80s all weekend long. Winds will slightly pick up over the weekend to 10-12 mph, typical island breezes.  There are definitely players who know how to play in these conditions better than others.

When you have a field like this one, you should lower down your typical bankroll play.  There are a lot of question marks around the players in this field, so much inconsistency.  When you've got this much uncertainty with the field, I'm not going to throw my money around.  I'm definitely not going to play any cash games.  I will give you one cash and one tournament lineup for each of the sites but just know I'm not going to play any cash games this weekend.

ONE AND DONE PICK: Emiliano Grillo

GOOD LUCK!
