DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

14-game slates are always tough to navigate. We try to get as much exposure to as many high-quality games as possible, but it’s not always possible. We can still find a healthy amount of value and that is what we are going to do. There are a ton of value players that we can target to help us fit our elite players into our lineups. Let’s check out some elite options that we need to consider.

Recommended DFS Starting Goalies

Top Options for Saves

Thatcher Demko Vs. Colorado Avalanche

Alex Lyon Vs. New Jersey Devils

Sergei Bobrovsky Vs. Boston Bruins

Best Odds for a Win

Joey Daccord Vs. San Jose Sharks

Ilya Sorokin Vs. Philadelphia Flyers

Vitek Vanecek Vs. Detroit Red Wings

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Linus Ullmark, G, Boston Bruins

Any time you can get Linus Ullmark at a discount, you have to consider him. The Florida Panthers are a good hockey team, but they could still be without Aleksander Barkov and the Bruins just don’t lose hockey games. I’m not worried that the matchup is a tough one because Ullmark has been nothing short of elite since arriving in Boston.

John Gibson, G, Anaheim Ducks

The Montreal Canadiens have lost four in a row and are starting their West Coast swing tonight. Traditionally, they haven’t had much success on this trip in the past and I don’t see that changing tonight. John Gibson has been stellar this season and his matchup on paper is great.

Carter Hart, G, Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers have won five games in a row and Carter Hart is a big reason or that. He has a date with the New York Islanders who have lost four of their last five and come into tonight scoring just 2.53 goals per game. The total for this game is at 5.5, so no one is expecting a high-scoring affair. The part that boggles my mind is that the Islanders are -150 to win this game. That number is wrong. I know Ilya Sorokin is good, but he hasn’t been elite this season. I’ll gladly play Hart at $7100 on DraftKings and laugh my way to the bank.

Thatcher Demko, G, Vancouver Canucks

I get that starting a goalie against the Colorado Avalanche is a risky choice, but the Canucks are elite and so is Thatcher Demko. Colorado has been a scoring machine of late, but they’ve also been giving up goals in bunches. Alexandar Georgiev is 10-5 on the season but has a .888 SV%. He’s basically the new Martin Jones (IYKYK). Demko is going to see a ton of action, so even if he does give up some goals, he’s still in a great spot to hit the save bonus. This game won’t be a blowout and Demko is more than capable of stealing one for his team.

Recommended DFS Skaters

Highest Expected Goal Totals

Seattle Kraken  Vs Mackenzie Blackwood (4.2)

New Jersey Devils Vs. Darcy Kuemper (3.7)

Colorado Avalanche Vs. Thatcher Demko (3.7)

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Jack Hughes, C, New Jersey Devils

If I’m going to break the bank for one player, it’s going to be Jack Hughes. He returned to the lineup last game and picked up right where he left off, scoring a goal and adding EIGHT shots on goal while playing 22 minutes. When he’s in action, you know he’s going to dominate and that’s what we continue to see.

Sebastian Aho, C, Carolina Hurricanes

The Edmonton Oilers are in action, so we need to target their poor goaltending. Carolina has some good players to choose from, but none better than Sebastian Aho. He has 12 points in the last ten games and is coming off a two-point, five-shot performance against Pittsburgh. He’s in a great spot and is reasonably priced.

Kyle Connor, W, Winnipeg Jets

Listen, we need to respect Kyle Connor as an elite goal-scoring scoring in the NHL. He has 14 goals on the year and has nine in his last ten games. He only has two shots on goal in the last two games, but I’m not letting that discourage me. Tampa Bay allows the sixth most goals against, so he’s going to get his chance to find the back of the net. We can also get him at low ownership because everyone will forget about him.

Filip Forsberg, W, Nashville Predators

Filip Forsberg is back baby! The Nashville winger has 21 points on the season and has a whopping 16 points and 40 shots on goal in the last ten games. He is just firing on all cylinders right now and it’s crazy that we can get him at $7400 on DK! I can’t for the life of me find a reason to not play him.

Jacob Trouba, D, New York Rangers

We need to save some salary but still find players with a high floor. Jacob Trouba isn’t going to rack up a ton of points, but he can shoot the puck and block shots. His $5600 price tag is also very reasonable. It’s more than I want to spend, but he’s got the upside to hit value without having to register a point.

Justin Barron, D, Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens allow the third most shots against per game, so they are usually spending most of their time blocking shots. Justin Barron is seeing a healthy amount of minutes and is playing on the top pairing with Michael Matheson. The bump in ice time is a good thing for him because it gives him more opportunities. Jordan Harris and Arber Xhekaj won’t suit up for this game, so Montreal will rely on their top four a ton in this game. Barron is a low-cost, high-upside play.
