This Saturday’s slate kicks off with a pivotal matchup with AFC playoff implications, with the Los Angeles Chargers hosting the Houston Texans. That’s why we’re here with our best Texans vs. Chargers predictions for Saturday.

Texans vs. Chargers Predictions for NFL Week 17, Saturday 12/27

The Chargers have been sent all over the place this season, including Brazil, the East Coast multiple times, and most recently Texas - also an early 1 PM ET game. Well, they get to stay in LA to host the Texans in Saturday’s first matchup, and after coming through for our NFL expert picks last weekend, we’re excited to break things down again.

Justin Herbert doubled his rushing yards prop and even hit the flyer we gave out for him to score an anytime TD (+550), but we’ll let you know now that we’re not heading that direction for our Texans vs. Chargers predictions this week. We also aren’t going to call for another 300-yard passing performance.

He and the rest of LA are going from one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL (the Dallas Cowboys), to the one in Houston that is absolutely incredible. It’s a unit that has caused many fans to back them during this playoff push, not just Texans vs. Chargers predictions. We even saw their defense carry things on the scoreboard on Sunday.

Houston had a pick-six for the game’s first touchdown against the Las Vegas Raiders (Derek Stingley), and they didn’t score a TD again until less than eight minutes remaining. With LA also keeping the Cowboys' high-powered offense to just 17 points, we expect a lower-scoring one here, too, in terms of just overall Texans vs. Chargers predictions.

Texans vs. Chargers Best Bet: C.J. Stroud To Throw An INT (Enjoy Sleeper DFS Lineups)

In terms of our actual best bet, we’re going to get a bit more specific than that overall type of game that we’re expecting. It’s one that is projected to be tight, just like Houston’s 23-21 win over the Raiders was, which spoiled playoff-clinching scenarios for several teams in the AFC, including the Chargers.

So, LA is already annoyed with Houston, but again, sweating out a winner with our Texans vs. Chargers predictions isn’t our preference. With a tight game expected, we should see both teams needing to throw until the bitter end rather than trying to grind out the clock on the ground. Therefore, we’re eyeing C.J. Stroud.

Sorry, Texans fans - we’re not eyeing it in a way that you’d prefer us to be. Stroud’s own defense has been elite against the pass for sure; however, so has LA. They rank third in the NFL in defensive EPA per pass, so if not for all the attention that Houston’s defense has been getting, we’d be talking more about the one in LA.

Well, we aren’t ignoring them, hence our Texans vs. Chargers predictions. Led by the seasoned veteran Derwin James, LA’s 17 interceptions on the year are the third-most in the NFL, which is tied with Houston. We’re going to keep tabs on the health of Donte Jackson. No matter his status, we expect forced throws from the former Ohio State QB.

Therefore, we’re locking in the best bet from our Texans vs. Chargers predictions on C.J. Stroud to throw an interception (use his Sleeper card for a lineup).

LA and their fans have been missing both starting tackles, but at least Justin Herbert didn’t miss a single game with his hand surgery, and Omarion Hampton is back alongside him. Speaking of RBs, other Texans vs. Chargers injuries concern Kimani Vidal leaving the win against Dallas with a neck injury, as did Donte Jackson (groin) and Jamaree Salyer (hamstring).
