Week 7 represents the turning points for a lot of these teams. Sure, not every team is battling for the same exact thing. Some are battling for their division lead, while others are simply hoping to keep their playoff hopes alive. No one can technically be eliminated at this stage but the candles are growing dim already for some teams.

And that’s where we stand with these two teams. The Packers are clinging to a narrow division lead in the NFC North. They are the last remaining one-loss team, while all other teams already have two. Meanwhile, the Cardinals find themselves in last place in the NFC West. They have two wins while each other team is tied with four. This is an important games for both teams - for very different reasons.

Packers vs. Cardinals Predictions For Sunday 4:25 PM ET, NFL Week 7

These teams don’t play particularly often, though they did play last season. That game, right around this time on October 13th, resulted in a 34-12 win for the Green Bay Packers. That game was playing in Green Bay, while this one will be played in Arizona.

The Packers have one of the more unusual records so far in the NFL as they have already had their bye week and also had a tie, 40-40 vs. the Dallas Cowboys. So they are sitting at 3-1-1. The Cardinals started off hot with a 2-0 record. But they have since lost four straight. They’ll hope to right the ship here in Week 7.

Green Bay Packers: Still Searching For Alpha Wide Receiver

The Packers have their QB. Tucker Kraft is one of the best young tight ends. And they have star running back Josh Jacobs. But Josh Jacobs said himself this offseason that the Packers need a “proven No. 1” wide receiver. They didn’t sign anyone in free agency, but they did draft Matthew Golden in the first round and Savion Williams in the third. With injuries to Christian Watson and Jayden Reed, they are still waiting for someone to truly step up from guys like Golden, Romeo Doubs, and Dontayvion Wicks. Golden has played better lately out of the slot, so maybe he can keep that momentum going.

On the other side of the ball, the Packers have been one of the best teams in football. Grades obviously aren’t the end all, be all but DVOA over at FTN Fantasy has them ranked second and Pro Football Focus has them grading out as third. Guys like Quay Walker and Xavier McKinney will do their best this week to contain Trey McBride over the middle.

Arizona Cardinals: Is Kyler Murray Playing?

Marvin Harrison has cleared concussion protocol, so we expect his return this week. But the big question is about quarterback Kyler Murray. Based on what we are hearing on Friday, I’m leaning towards it being Jacoby Brissett again. Monti Ossenfort said that they are waiting until they can “get him in a position where he can get back to doing the things we know he can do on the field”. Considering how much he scrambles and the fact that it’s a foot injury, you’d think he’d a least be working with the starters on Friday if he were good to go, but he worked with the scout team WRs today while Brissett worked with the starters. So that has us leaning towards Jacoby.

On defense, the Cardinals made big investments this year. They used their first five picks of the 2025 NFL Draft on that side of the ball. Unfortunately, we have yet to see first round pick Walter Nolen. who is working back from a calf injury. His practice window has not been activated. The Cardinals for now are more of a middle of the road defense but they are trending in the right direction.

Packers vs. Cardinals: Matthew Golden Over 48.5 Receiving Yards (-115 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

Matthew Golden has had the best two games of his young career over the last two weeks. And that is not by chance. It actually comes via a role change that we believe we can take advantage of this week with the sportsbooks.

In his first three games, Golden as used primarily as an outside wide receiver opposite Romeo Doubs. He played more snaps out wide than in the slot in each of those games. Over the last two games however, he made a move into the slot where Jayden Reed previous operated. He played 35 slot snaps to 14 out wide in Week 4, and then 27 to 12 in Week 6.

The Cardinals have had some injuries in the secondary to guys like Sean Murphy-Bunting and Garrett Williams. They’ve been using safety Jalen Thompson in the slot and he has not graded out particularly well. With his speed, it might not take much for Golden to pick up 50+ yards if he can just breakaway on one. He’s cracked 50 yards in three straight in large part thanks to plays of 34, 35, and 46 yards.
