NFL Week 16 Picks Straight Up & Odds For All 16 Games

With Week 16 here, we have some great matchups on paper between all 32 NFL teams! In the following section, you will find my predictions, with the teams I anticipate coming away with a victory highlighted in bold. Odds are courtesy of BetMGM:

NFL Week 16 Picks Straight Up: New England Patriots ML (+136 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

Along with myself, I am sure many others were shocked to see the Patriots as underdogs here against an up-and-down Baltimore Ravens team, and if you are nervous about taking an underdog here, I think Patriots +3 is pretty juicy as well. That being said, I have confidence in this Pats team. Yes, they are coming off an unfortunate collapse to the always-competitive Buffalo Bills, but they are still being quarterbacked by an MVP candidate, they still have the seventh-best defense in terms of points per game and yards per game, their head coach is in Coach of the Year discussions, and I think they are going up against a very flawed Baltimore Ravens team.

Despite coming off a shutout victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Baltimore Ravens' defense hasn't been the most impressive unit. Sure, they were banged up for a portion of the season, but even so, they are middle-to-bottom of the league in most defensive metrics and gave up 27 and 32 points, respectively, over the two games prior. Additionally, Lamar Jackson has not been the MVP version of himself that we have grown accustomed to. He did have a good game two weeks back against the Steelers, but that has been his only notable performance since returning from his injury. Add in the fact that Jackson has thrown an interception in each of his last three games, when in the past he has been very good at avoiding turnovers, and I am not sold that he is all the way back and can outplay Drake Maye this year with a less impressive defense backing him up. I can still see this being a close game, as the Ravens are still playing for their division and for the playoffs altogether, but give me the Patriots to win this one outright.

NFL Week 16 Picks Straight Up: Kansas City Chiefs ML (-168 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

I know the loss of Patrick Mahomes is massive for the Kansas City Chiefs; he is a generational quarterback and has brought the Chiefs to three straight Super Bowls. That being said, recently this Chiefs team has been more of a defensive powerhouse than an offensive one. Just this year, the Chiefs rank in the top ten for yards allowed per game and in the top five for points allowed per game. Their offense is still above-average, but the defense has been the catalyst for most of their wins on the season.

Meanwhile, they are up against the 31st-ranked offense in both points per game and yards per game. Tony Pollard's recent emergence has been nice for the Titans, but Cam Ward has still been inconsistent, surrounded by a lackluster offensive line and group of weapons. This offense vs. this defense is not even a close matchup on paper.

On the flip side, I think we are underestimating Gardner Minshew. This is a quarterback with 46 career starts, the ability to manage and win games, a Pro Bowl nod, and 68 career passing touchdowns. With Andy Reid in his corner and a good group of weapons on the outside, I think he can find success for KC in relief for Mahomes. He is also up against a defense that has been admittedly solid against the run, but is bottom of the league against the pass. Oh, and just a reminder: the Titans have only won TWO GAMES on the season. The fact that the Chiefs are only three-point favorites in this one is baffling to me, and I am taking the Chiefs with confidence here.
