For a moment there, it looked like perhaps the tides were turning. There was a lot of hope in the building for the New York Jets, especially after they beat the Titans in Week One, then played the Packers tough in a Week Two loss. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots hit a low point, sitting at 1-2 going on the road to face the Buffalo Bills. Not what most expected to start the year.
But, as we know, the Patriots are now sitting at 3-2 following some convincing wins against the Bills and the Raiders. The Jets are sitting at 2-3, with their wins coming against the Titans and Browns. Will it be business as usual for New England with the Jets coming to town this week? Or can the Jets finally get the upper hand?
🏅 Jets vs. Patriots Expert Pick: Drake Maye Over 26.5 Rushing Yards (-114 on DraftKings)
We really don’t love betting the game lines for division games - especially the first time these two teams match up this year. But there also aren’t a lot of prop bets available given the uncertainty surrounding some injured players in this game. Which makes sense - the books don’t want to put lines up for guys like Efton Chism if there is a chance AJ Brown plays.
But there is one line up that we like a lot, and that’s the over on the rushing yards for Drake Maye. We would honestly like this line for Maye regardless of what was going on with the running back room, as Maye is back to both scrambling and getting designed runs in recent weeks. But, with TreVeyon Henderson dealing with an injury and Corey Kiner potentially in the doghouse after fumbling, I think the Patriots take some of the heat off Rhamondre Stevenson by using their quarterback Drake Maye in the run game. Over the last two weeks, he’s run 15 times for 79 yards, so 26.5 is just set a little too low in a division game that they really can’t afford to lose.

🏉 Jets vs. Patriots Injury Report & Latest News
The Jets defense has quietly been keeping them in all these games. New York ranks fifth in points allowed at 19.2 per game and sixth in defensive EPA per play, limiting opponents in the red zone at one of the best rates in the league. The offensive side is where they have struggled, and injuries have played a big part. Missing Breece Hall has hurt, though there is a chance he suits up this week. Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell (finger) has also been out and has once again been sitting out practice this week. Edge rusher Joseph Ossai (ankle) and offensive lineman Dylan Parham (knee) both did not practice either. On the positive front, tight end Mason Taylor did return last week, and there is a chance that Kenyon Sadiq can clear concussion protocol in time for the game as well.
As we mentioned, the Patriots started slow but have been on fire lately. That’s largely fallen on the shoulders of Drake Maye, who played poorly early on but has been putting up massive numbers the last two weeks. He’s playing through some sort of shoulder injury that continues to list him on the injury report, but we don’t expect that to stop him this week. The biggest storyline on offense is that A.J. Brown returned to limited practice with his ankle injury after spending time on injured reserve, a potential difference-maker if he can suit up Sunday. The corner depth issues that plagued New England in Week 5 are still present as well as Carlton Davis III (neck) and Karon Prunty (hamstring) both sat out Wednesday. Christian Gonzalez (shoulder), Channing Canada (hamstring), and Charles Woods (shoulder) were all limited on top of that. Offensive tackle Will Campbell (knee) and running back TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) were also limited, though Henderson reportedly had his pads on for the Thursday practice. Despite all the injuries, the Patriots defense ranks sixth in yards allowed while Maye has done a complete 180 in the last two weeks.
