We’d never lie to you guys. So we won’t here. The Miami Dolphins are in a whole heap of trouble. That doesn’t mean that crazy things can’t happen - the Arizona Cardinals did beat the Los Angeles Chargers in Week One. But a 13.5 spread on the road is a tall order here for Miami.

And it makes sense once you really dive in. The Dolphins have more dead cap than active spending this year. They are built to tank and play for the future. The San Francisco 49ers, on the other hand, are all in. They already had some aging guys like George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey then they paid up big to bring in Mike Evans. They are pushing their chips to win now. So they SHOULD be favored big. But is that line set too high for an NFL game?

🏅 Dolphins vs. 49ers Expert Pick: Deebo Samuel Over 34.5 Receiving Yards (-110 on DraftKings)

We aren’t going near the main game lines on this one. We expect the San Francisco 49ers to win. But the money line is out of control at -900. And NFL teams just care about winning; they don’t care about winning by an absurd margin. Winning by 13 is a fairly healthy whooping in the NFL, and there’s no reason to pile on more points, but it actually wouldn’t cover the spread here.

Instead, we like a prop bet. The 49ers lost Ricky Pearsall. They also lost Christian Kirk. That saw them sign Deebo Samuel to battle with rookie De’Zhaun Stribling to be the guy opposite Mike Evans. In Week One, it was actually looking like Stribling WAS that guy as he was playing in two WR sets opposite Evans. But Stribling suffered a deltoid injury that landed him on IR. So Deebo had to step up.

This offense uses a fullback and multiple tight ends. That highly consolidates the snaps and targets among the top two wide receivers. Which means Deebo Samuel should once again be forced into a good chunk of action this week - especially with George Kittle still working his way back to a full workload coming off an injury. I think a lot of the 49ers are going to have a chance to eat before things get out of hand. So we are going with the over for yardage on Deebo Samuel this week.

🏉 Dolphins vs. 49ers Injury Report & Latest News

The biggest storyline on the San Francisco side is George Kittle being limited in practice this week with an Achilles issue. He ran less than 50% of the routes last week, which clearly declined as the game went on. Nick Bosa is also listed as limited, though that appears to be a precautionary rest day for his knee rather than a true concern. RB Kaelon Black (groin) and DE Keion White (back) are also limited, though Kyle Shanahan said it was only “tightness” for Kaelon Black. It’s notable that Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams are full participants after getting rest days, as they are often on the injured list. As we mentioned, WR De'Zhaun Stribling is out and reportedly headed to IR with an ankle injury following surgery.

On the Miami side, the two names to watch are LB Chop Robinson, who entered concussion protocol this week and is out, and LB Ronnie Harrison (hamstring), who is also out. Quarterback Malik Willis popped up on the injury report with a toe issue but practiced fully on Thursday, so he's expected to be good to go.  TE Seydou Traore (thumb/Achilles) was limited, but he’s more of a special teams/depth piece.
