We’ve got a matchup between two blue-collar classic teams here. Two teams that have, historically, gotten the short end of the stick. The Bills' trauma has come more from making it close to the mountain top on many occasions while not quite being able to make the summit. While the Browns never seem to be able to get past base camp.
And that’s where they stand today. The Browns are towards the bottom of the league, simply trying to figure out who will be a part of their future. And the Bills are fighting the battle in the AFC, hoping to get over that final hump this time around. Bills vs. Browns Predictions For Sunday 1:00 PM ET, NFL Week 16
These teams don’t play all that often. The Bills have been atop their division lately with the Browns at the bottom of theirs, so the schedules don’t match up. They’ve only played once over the last five years in fact, with the Bills winning that one in 2022 with a score of 31-23.
The Bills currently sit at 10-4 and are in the hunt for the AFC East. They are coming off a huge win against New England which is part of a three-game win streak. The Browns currently sit at 3-11 and are in last place in the AFC North. They are 1-3 in the Shedeur Sanders era, with their one win coming against the Las Vegas Raiders.Â
Buffalo Bills: Battling For The Division
Many expected the Buffalo Bills to be a slam dunk for the AFC East. And the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets have played down to expectations. But the New England Patriots, in part thanks to a favorable schedule, currently sit in first. The Bills kept their hopes alive by beating the Patriots last week and will hope to continue that push here.
The offense of old that relied heavily on Stefon Diggs is gone with a more balanced pass approach as of late. Rather than one star, they spread the ball out to the likes of Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, and Dawson Knox. The run game is more consolidated among running back James Cook and mobile superstar Josh Allen.
The Bills are among the best teams in the league in terms of pass yards allowed - they rank second in yards allowed per game, in fact. They’ve been especially good against opposing tight ends. The run game is a different story, however. They are allowing the third-most yards per game on the ground. Just look at what TreVeyon Henderson did last week.
Cleveland Browns: Is Shedeur Sanders The Guy?
That’s the question on everyone’s mind. Shedeur Sanders has at least given this town some hope, especially with his best performance against the Tennessee Titans. But the Titans also have one of the most injured secondaries in the league. They have a fairly small sample size of games to figure out if he’s their starter of the future.
In fact, they are relying heavily on their rookies as of late. Running back Quinshon Judkins and Harold Fannin both pass the eye test and are likely locked in for years to come. But the question of whether Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson, or someone else will start long term is very much up for grabs.
On defense, the Browns have been fantastic. Remember how we said the Bills are allowing the second-fewest pass yards per game? That’s behind the Browns, who are first. The pass rush of Myles Garrett, who is gunning for the NFL sack record, has been a big part of creating that disruption. Lately, the Browns have been a little easier to run on, but they’re still statistically at least middle of the pack.

Bills vs. Browns: Harold Fannin Under 54.5 Receiving Yards (-115 at BetMGM Sportsbook)
We aren’t going to be the under on the receptions total for Harold Fannin. It’s been made pretty clear that he’s the focal point of this pass attack in the Shedeur Sanders era. In fact, since Shedeur Sanders took over, the only tight end to get more targets than Harold Fannin? The great Trey McBride. Just last week Fannin got 14 targets and a carry.
Yes, the volume will probably still be there, but we’re not super sold that the yardage will. Fannin has run fairly low aDOT (average depth of target) routes at only 6.0 yards on average. That’s good for TE48 on the season and it’s the lowest of any Browns pass-catcher. The young quarterback likes to throw it short to his big target which makes a lot of sense.
It just so happens that the Browns go up against the the Buffalo Bills, arguably the toughest tight end matchup along with the Eagles and Texans. Even last week against the Bears on 14 targets, Fannin didn’t crack 50 yards. In fact, he’s only done it in one of the four games with Sanders, despite all the targets and that was against the lowly Titans. Everyone knows exactly what the Browns want to do and, with guys like Matt Milano at their disposal, the Bills are well equipped to take it away.
