NFL Week 6 Picks Against The Spread: Los Angeles Chargers +8.5 (-115 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
Yes, the Los Angeles Chargers have been terrible thus far this season. Justin Herbert is turning the ball over at an alarming rate, the receivers are unreliable, and the team just seems all out of sorts. That being said, despite all of the dysfunction, the Chargers have consistently been competitive somehow. In their last three games, the Chargers faced off against the AFC frontrunner Buffalo Bills, the reigning Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks, and the defensive powerhouse Denver Broncos, and in all three games, the Chargers only lost by one score. The team has shown heart, and the defense has shown promise, despite their quarterback throwing games away late.
Once again, I am expecting this same result. Divisional matchups can be tricky; the Chargers showed that in their last game against the Broncos. The 2026 NFL season has already had a historic number of one-score games, with Week 3 tying the most in a single week at 13. Even with my doubts regarding the Chargers, I think they can keep the game close against a banged-up, familiar opponent.
NFL Week 6 Picks Against The Spread: Dallas Cowboys +1.5 (-114 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
Is there some bitterness in this pick after the Green Bay Packers just embarrassed my Chicago Bears? Maybe. Or maybe I believe the Dallas Cowboys are a little better than what they showed in a trap game on Thursday Night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Even after what they showed, I know the Cowboys still boast one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. The Packers’ defense certainly is not a horrific unit, but their best outing was against the Bears in a divisional game with a backup quarterback. Certainly not a trustworthy outing. Still without Micah Parsons, I don’t expect this unit to be the deciding factor in this game.
Now I might sound crazy looking at the Packers offense vs. Cowboys defense and saying I am backing the Cowboys (not so great) defense because of that, but I have my reasons. First, the Cowboys failed defensively on Thursday Night primarily due to their struggles against the run game. Bucky Irving had several explosive runs, which is something the Packers offense isn’t too familiar with. Even with their dominant win, Green Bay was still only able to gain 70 yards on the ground against a beaten-up, morally defeated Bears team. That’s not great. Now, the Cowboys have hired the experienced Mike Pettine to further help their lackluster defense. I know the Cowboys will be able to better handle the Packers’ run game, so if I am given a choice between Jordan Love, Christian Watson, and Matthew Golden or the proven track record of Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, AND an extra 1.5 points just for fun, I am taking the Cowboys every time.
