Last week may have been my best on PlaySqorr and the PlaySqorr app so far. Drew Brees ’ poor game would have kept me from getting all six picks correct regardless, but if Carson Wentz had stayed healthy, there is a decent chance I would have gotten five of the six picks correct. This week, we’re making four picks for Sunday’s Divisional games. Normally, I would be inclined to take the points in matchups featuring such good players, but I surprised myself by giving the points in three of the four matchups.
NFL Divisional Weekend Show Stoppers
Lamar Jackson -7.25 fantasy points vs. Aaron Rodgers
Would anything surprise you from Aaron Rodgers ? Rodgers has zero touchdowns in three games this season, and he has 3+ in three games. I think there will be touchdowns to be had in this game for Green Bay, but they could just as easily go to Aaron Jones as to Aaron Rodgers . Lamar Jackson has at least 28 fantasy points in six of his last eight games, and if he reaches that plateau in this game, which is very achievable, I don’t love Rodgers’s chances to catch him.
Patrick Mahomes -4.25 fantasy points vs. Russell Wilson
Neither of these quarterbacks were particularly consistent this season, though Mahomes put up better numbers down the stretch, with 22+ fantasy points against Denver and Chicago Weeks 15 and 16. Mahomes has a much better matchup, and the Seahawks still don’t throw the ball unless they absolutely have to. Mahomes feels much safer, even giving the points.
Tyreek Hill -0.25 fantasy points vs. Davante Adams
Hill has topped 13 fantasy points once in his last six games, while Adams has at least 18 fantasy points in six of his last seven. Hill probably has the slightly better matchup, and his ceiling is probably higher, but Adams looks like a mortal lock for 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
DeAndre Hopkins -2.25 fantasy points vs. Tyler Lockett
I’m a little concerned the Chiefs will be able to shut Hopkins down, but I was encouraged by the way the Texans got Hopkins involved in the second half next week. Juan Thornhill ’s injury could bode well for Hopkins as well. Perhaps more importantly, how can we possibly trust Tyler Lockett at this point? Lockett has fewer than 11 fantasy points in six of his last eight games, and even if Lockett has a big game, Hopkins’s ceiling is just as high as Lockett’s.
