🤔 NFL Training Camp Updates For Today, 8/4

Yesterday’s NFL training camp updates were highlighted by some young QBs showing out at their respective practices and news highlighting the upcoming NFL Hall of Fame game on Thursday. Well, we have even more announcements before kickoff to cover, along with some massive contracts being announced. So, with all that being said, let’s dive in!

🏈 NFL Training Camp Live News - Bijan Robinson and Zay Flowers Extended

Bijan Robinson & Zay Flowers Extended

Our first NFL training camp update of the offseason: we mentioned that two of the top backs in the league (Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs) were holding out from their respective NFL training camps. Well, one of the two holdouts came to an end today (and another is apparently not related to his contract?) with Bijan Robinson agreeing to terms with Atlanta on a three-year extension worth up to $75 million. This now makes Robinson the highest-paid running back in NFL history based on average annual value (AAV). The Colts front office should be looking out, as this deal has inspired their superstar running back, Jonathan Taylorto start considering a new deal himself.

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens also extended one of their star playmakers on offense. Zay Flowers agreed to terms on a four-year, $140 million extension with $108 million guaranteed. This makes Flowers the fourth-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL at $35 million per year, tied with Vikings superstar Justin Jefferson.

Carson Beck to Start the Hall of Fame Game

The stage is officially set for the NFL Hall of Fame Game; it will be the veteran Kenny Pickett and the Carolina Panthers facing off against the rookie Carson Beck and the Arizona Cardinals. During yesterday’s NFL training camp update, we mentioned that former first-round pick Kenny Pickett would start for the Panthers, and now we have received confirmation that Carson Beck will be starting for the Arizona Cardinals. Carson Beck has reportedly looked impressive throughout NFL training camp thus far and will look to make a case to be the quarterback of the future for Arizona.

It was also confirmed that Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks will not be playing in the NFL Hall of Fame game. This is worth noting, as Brooks will be resting alongside other notable players, showing he has proven his value to the team despite minimal NFL reps due to injury. Perhaps a potential fantasy football training camp winner to keep an eye on.

📈Fantasy Football Winners Of The Day

Chargers NOT Looking to Add a Veteran Receiver

Those that drafted Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston, rejoice. Despite bringing in Keenan Allen last year, who ended up taking away targets from some of the other Chargers’ weapons, this season, the Los Angeles Chargers are unlikely to add a veteran pass catcher prior to the start of the season. This means more targets for the guys already there, and more targets mean more fantasy points!

Being drafted as the WR20 and WR44 respectively, people are expecting massive years for Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston with Mike McDaniel acting as the Chargers' offensive coordinator.

Josh Allen to DJ Moore Connection Looks Dominant

Back in 2023, DJ Moore was one of the top fantasy football wide receivers in the league. The past two seasons, he seems to have taken a back seat in crowded Chicago receiving rooms. Now, Moore has been traded to the Buffalo Bills, and he has been shining in NFL training camp thus far.

Being drafted as WR26 in fantasy football as the number one option in an explosive Buffalo passing game, DJ Moore could be in for a monster bounce-back season.

📉 Fantasy Football Losers Of The Day

TreVeyon Henderson Continues to Struggle with Pass Protection

TreVeyon Henderson was the bane of fantasy owners’ existences last season, as despite his draft profile and pedigree, he could not snatch the starting running back role for the New England Patriots from the incumbent Rhamondre Stevenson. Really, it was one thing that held him back, according to Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrabel: pass protection. Unfortunately for Henderson, he has reportedly continued to struggle at that phase of the game, meaning it could be more of the same for fantasy owners.

Being drafted as the RB22, it looks like Henderson will be nothing more than a FLEX play, with RB1 upside if Stevenson were to miss time. Unless he is able to carve out a greater role in the Patriots offense, Henderson is a fantasy football training camp loser.

Jalen Hurts Missing Weapons

One thing we hate to see is players getting banged up so early into training camp, especially when it is two players of the same position. Unfortunately, that is exactly what is happening in Eagles training camp, as both the veteran DeVonta Smith and rookie Makai Lemon are dealing with hamstring injuries and missed practice today. This means Jalen Hurts was stuck passing to a receiver group headlined by Marquise Brown and Dontayvion Wicks instead of learning a new offense with his WR1 or building chemistry with his first-round rookie.

While these injuries are considered minor and both receivers should see their way back relatively soon, every rep counts as the Eagles are coming off a disappointing season, lost their former WR1 in a trade, and have a new offensive coordinator in Sean Mannion.

🩼 NFL Training Camp Injury Updates - Kenyon Sadiq Suffers Setback

When looking into an NFL training camp report, it is also important to stay up to date with all the injuries around the league and NFL Training Camp Live News.

Kenyon Sadiq Suffers Setback

The New York Jets drafted former Oregon Duck tight end Kenyon Sadiq at 16th overall in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Unfortunately for the Jets, they have yet to see him in much action, as Sadiq had offseason hernia surgery that has kept him off the field.

According to Head Coach Aaron Glenn, Sadiq has since faced a setback in his recovery from surgery, and he will miss "a little bit" of time. He is still expected to be back in time for the regular-season opener on September 13th against the Tennessee Titans.

Ahkello Witherspoon Placed on the Reserve/Retired List

While not exactly “injury” news, the Washington Commanders placed veteran cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon on the reserve/retired list. Witherspoon was a third-round pick in 2017 who went on to play for the 49ers, Steelers, and Rams over nine NFL seasons. Witherspoon joined Washington this offseason, but has since decided to retire instead.

Other Notable Injury Updates

  • Falcons EDGE Jalon Walker was carted off the field after suffering an apparent leg injury during practice and is believed to have torn his ACL.
  • Falcons QB Tua Tagovailoa was limited at practice with a back injury.
  • Panthers WR Xavier Legette left practice early today with a stinger and concussion symptoms. He has since cleared concussion protocol.
  • Lions LB Malcolm Rodriguez left practice to be evaluated for an ankle injury.
  • Chargers star OT Rashawn Slater exited practice early after a visit to the medical tent following an 11-on-11 period.
  • Dolphins TE Greg Dulcich and OT Austin Jackson are both day-to-day with minor injuries.
