NFL Injury Report Ahead of Sunday's Week 3 Games: Jalen Coker, Brock Bowers
Fantasy football giveth and Fantasy Football taketh away. Injuries are plaguing most teams, and they’re taking no hostages. From superstars to glue guys, everyone is susceptible to being hurt. Let’s take a peek at which injuries we need to monitor from a fantasy football perspective.
NFL Week 3 Injury Report: Quarterbacks
Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears
Williams is out this weekend as the Bears take on the Eagles. With Tyson Bagent also not practicing with a concussion, Case Keenum will be the starter, which makes me concerned for all Chicago pass-catchers.
Jaxson Dart, New York Giants
Dart suffered a knee injury that was reported every which way, but he will ultimately miss the rest of the regular season after undergoing surgery. He will be placed on IR, but he’s safe to drop in redraft formats.
Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks
Darnold is returning to action this weekend. This is a step up for Seattle, though Drew Lock has played solid football in relief.
Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
Daniels is not currently going on IR or having surgery, so it remains to be seen how long he will be out. While Daniels is week-to-week, Mariota will start in his place, but I would caution getting your hopes up for Daniels to return within the next couple of weeks.
NFL Week 3 Injury Report: Running Backs
Jonathon Brooks, Carolina Panthers
Brooks is headed to the IR after undergoing core muscle surgery to repair a hernia. He will be out at least six weeks, if not longer. He’s a drop if you do not have an available IR slot, but I’d be willing to drop even if he does, as he was in a major workload split in Week 1.
J.K. Dobbins, Denver Broncos
Dobbins suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2, but is expected to be good to go per early reports. Jonah Coleman saw the majority of the work with RJ Harvey a late inactive in Week 2.
Jaylen Wright, Miami Dolphins
Wright suffered a neck injury that removed him from action in Week 2. It appears to be more of a sprain than anything, but he is subsequently dealing with a foot issue as well and will be listed as doubtful, leading to the potential for 25+ touches for De'Von Achane.
Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles
Barkley has been participating in practice and should be good to go this weekend against Chicago. The Eagles' RB1 is back in action.
Rico Dowdle, Pittsburgh Steelers
Dowdle was not spotted during the opening portion of practice, and I’m not expecting him to play this weekend. With Jaylen Warren practicing this week, I’m expecting him to operate as the true RB1 this week.
Jadarian Price, Seattle Seahawks
Price has been limited in practice this week. That said, he should be wheels up this weekend.
Jonah Coleman, Denver Broncos
Jonah Coleman ended up dealing with an ankle injury this week. That injury will keep him out of this week's game, which is tough to see given how strong he looked. I’m holding Coleman at this time as the upside is clear and this looks likely to just be a one-week absence.
NFL Week 3 Injury Report: Wide Receivers
Jalen Coker, Carolina Panthers
Coker popped up with an ankle injury this week, but should be good to go this weekend. He’s listed as questionable, but seeing as no practices were missed, he's looking like he'll be good to go.
Zay Flowers, Baltimore Ravens
Flowers has returned to practice in a limited fashion. Rashod Bateman stepped up in his absence last week, and I’m expecting Bateman to be a high-end WR2/Flex option if Flowers is out. We may not know definitively until game time, so monitor this here.
DJ Moore, Buffalo Bills
Moore was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday and Friday, and he’s listed as questionable but expected to be a game-time decision per head coach Joe Brady. Keon Coleman also was not spotted at Thursday’s practice, meaning Khalil Shakir is likely operating as the de facto WR1 if both are out.
Nico Collins, Houston Texans
Collins has not returned to practice and will miss another game. Dalton Schultz led the receiving room in targets in Week 2, but amongst receivers, Xavier Hutchinson led with nine, with Kayshon Boutte receiving five. Hutchinson remains a solid flex option in Collins' absence.
Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts
Pierce is being placed on IR, keeping him out for a minimum of four weeks. Josh Downs is expected to see a majority of the work as the WR1 in his absence.
Michael Pittman, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittman is dealing with a foot injury that he suffered last week in practice. He did not practice Thursday or Friday. He is listed as questionable in their game against the Bengals, but this Steelers' offense is really struggling at this point and may want him back sooner if he’s capable.
Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams
Nacua is dealing with a hip injury and is experiencing symptoms similar to those felt prior to sports hernias, so the team is being cautious with their top WR. Nacua will be listed as doubtful and is unlikely to play. Davante Adams remains a high-end WR1 in his absence, and Terrence Ferguson becomes an interesting fantasy option for Week 3.
Caleb Douglas, Miami Dolphins
Douglas missed Friday’s practice with an ankle injury and will be OUT this weekend. There isn’t really another exciting option with how much this Miami offense has struggled, though Chris Bell will be active.
DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles
Smith was not in uniform at the start of Friday’s practice, but was working off to the side and was seen during individual drills. He will likely play this weekend, but this is one to monitor.
NFL Week 3 Injury Report: Tight Ends
Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders
Bowers will be listed as questionable. While he did not practice Friday, that seems to be more load management than anything else, and I’m expecting Bowers to be active.
David Njoku, Los Angeles Chargers
Njoku has officially been placed on IR with an injury to his fibula. He will be out at least four games, but no official timeline has been given.
Charlie Kolar, Los Angeles Chargers
Kolar is NOT being placed on IR, but is out for Week 3. That means that Oronde Gadsden is the likely starter for the Chargers this weekend. Gadsden flashed huge fantasy upside at times last season, so this could be the most productive tight end we’ve gotten from the team at this point in the season.
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
Goedert has not participated in practice and will be inactive in Week 3. This is a huge hit, as the dropoff at TE is notable for the Eagles, with their backup being Johnny Mundt.
