The Denver Broncos advanced to the AFC Championship Game in thrilling fashion on Saturday night, securing a victory in overtime. However, the celebration was immediately silenced by news that quarterback Bo Nix suffered a season-ending injury during the game-winning drive.

The injury occurred moments before the Broncos secured the winning score, turning a euphoric moment into a potential disaster for the team's Super Bowl hopes.

Bo Nix Injury

The injury took place during the Broncos' decisive possession in overtime. Nix suffered the injury on the second to last play of the game winning drive to move the offense into scoring range.

Denver Broncos QB Depth Chart

With Nix officially ruled out, Jarrett Stidham will take over as the starting quarterback for the AFC Championship Game against either the Houston Texans or New England Patriots.

Now entering his seventh NFL season, Jarrett Stidham brings a wealth of system knowledge and veteran poise to the starting role. While he has spent the bulk of the 2024 and 2025 seasons as a reserve, limited primarily to mop-up duty and situational packages, he has previously demonstrated the ability to lead an offense effectively.

His most notable stretch occurred in 2022 with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he threw for 656 yards and four touchdowns in two starts, including a commanding 365-yard performance against a top-tier 49ers defense.

Stidham is also no stranger to stepping into the spotlight for Denver; he took over for the final two games of the 2023 season, posting a 1-1 record with 496 passing yards and two touchdowns. That track record of stepping up in late-season scenarios will be vital as he prepares to lead the Broncos into the AFC Championship.
