Big news made in Week 3 of the NFL season and at a perfect time as we begin to prepare for the fantasy football Week 3 waiver wire period. This morning it was reported that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed free agent wide receiver Cole Beasley to their practice squad due to the number of receivers they have on the current nfl injury report. Which leads us to the next question. Is Cole Beasley worth an add off the waiver wire this week? Let's dive in!

Is Cole Beasley Worth Adding Off the Fantasy Football Week 3 Waiver Wire?

First, lets examine the Buccaneers current wide receiver room shall we? Chris Godwin is out with a hamstring injury. Julio Jones missed Week 2 with an injury of his own.  Mike Evans is currently facing a one-game suspension due to his on-field scuffle with Marshon Lattimore in Week 2's loss to the Saints. Russell Gage was active for Week 2 but has also been dealing with a hamstring injury. The depth behind the starters looks something like Scotty Miller, Breshard Perriman and that's about it. It's safe to say the Buccaneers could certainly use some additional help at the receiver position.

How productive can Beasley be with Tampa Bay? In his three seasons with the Bills he averaged 77 catches on 108 targets for 812 yards. He was a very reliable slot WR who nearly had 1,000 yard season in 2020, finishing with 967 yards on 82 receptions. If not for Beasley's likely off-field views, he would probably be on an NFL roster already. Tom Brady is a quarterback that loves his slot WR's and it seems unlikely the team has signed Beasley without the plan to bring him to their active roster at some point. We've seen what Scotty Miller is as an NFL wide receiver and we know the limitation of Breshard Perriman. Beasley would seem like a perfect fit in a Tom Brady led offense.

Should you be putting in a waiver claim or using FAAB on Cole Beasley though? If you wanted to toss a dollar or two and see if you get him for cheap that's fine. I wouldn't use a high waiver priority on him as his actual role in Tampa Bay is still unknown but if you can wait out the waiver claim period and pick him up as a priority free agent in your league I think he is worth the dart throw just given the offense he has a chance to be part of.
