Another week has passed in the NFL with crucial injuries taking place as guys like Justin Herbert, Trey Lance, and Jerry Jeudy all went down at points in their games, and two of the three not returning to the action. With Week 3 already on the horizon, we need to know who’s going to be in and who’s going to be out of our fantasy football lineups, so let’s break down all the injuries we know of on Tuesday, September 20th, that directly impact the moves we’ll be potentially be made on the waiver wire or via trades.

2022 NFL Injury Report Week 2

NFL Quarterback Injury Report

Justin Herbert, LAC - Ribs

After Thursday night’s herculean performance, Justin Herbert has been diagnosed with fractured ribs and is considered day-to-day. We’re unsure what his Week 3 status is going to be, but it’s definitely a good sign that he’s only listed day-to-day. Here’s a live look at an X-ray of Herbert’s ribs;

Trey Lance, SF - Ankle

It’s just awful news anytime a player loses his entire season to an injury and that’s what we have here. Trey Lance broke his ankle in multiple spots in the first quarter of the 49ers Week 2 game and is going to miss the remainder of the season. Hoping for a speedy recovery! Lance seems to be in good spirits post-surgery.

Zach Wilson, NYJ - Thumb

The latest news on Wilson is that Joe Flacco will start in Week 3 and Wilson will not return until he’s 110%. Although things have gone well for him during his rehab process, he’s still not at 110%, at least not yet.

NFL Running Back Injury Report

Alvin Kamara, NO - Ribs

After missing practice on Thursday and Friday of last week, Alvin Kamara was ruled out of the Saints’ Week 2 game and his status for Week 3 is in question as well. There is nothing definitive as of now so we’ll need to watch the practice reports to see how he’s progressing.

James Conner, ARI - Ankle

It seems as if the ankle injury James Conner suffered in Week 2 is not that serious and he potentially may not miss any time. We’ll find out as we approach the start of practice this week if Conner is on the field or not. If he’s out, Eno Benjamin and Darrel Williams will be the 1-2 punch in the Cardinals backfield.

J.K. Dobbins, BAL - Knee

Here’s your latest update on J.K. Dobbins via his head coach, John Harbaugh. Nothing has changed as he remains week-to-week.

Brandon Bolden, LV - Hamstring

After playing a big role in Week 1, Brandon Bolden missed Week 2 in what was an expected outcome. Bolden played 16 snaps in Week 1 while he ran 11 routes, according to PFF. If Bolden is healthy enough to suit up in Week 3, he should once again take over the passing downs in the Las Vegas backfield.

Tyrion Davis-Price, SF - Ankle

Who has the voodoo doll taking out all of the 49ers? After losing Elijah Mitchell in Week 1, Tyrion Davis-Price suffered a high-ankle sprain and will miss a couple of weeks according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. We should look toward Jordan Mason as the team’s backup running back.

Dontrell Hilliard, TEN - Hamstring

With Dontrell Hilliard ruled out in Week 2, we saw Hassan Haskins take over as the team’s second running back behind Derrick Henry. If and when Hilliard does return to action, he’ll remain in the pass-catching role that Henry is not all that great in.

NFL Wide Receiver Injury Report

Keenan Allen, LAC - Hamstring

We have not heard anything new on the Keenan Allen front, but by the time the Chargers Week 3 game against the Jaguars rolls around it’ll be two full weeks since Allen’s injury. We’ll find out early this week whether or not he’s practicing and trending in the right direction.

Michael Pittman, IND - Quadriceps

After a mid-week injury to Michael Pittman’s quads kept him out of Week 2, the Colts seem optimistic about his Week 3 status. The passing offense looked absolutely anemic without Pittman as they didn’t score a single point. He’s desperately needed.

Jerry Jeudy, DEN - Ribs

The Broncos got some good news on Jerry Jeudy as he seemingly dodged anything serious and the Broncos are listing him as day-to-day. Head coach Nathaniel Hackett also mentioned he was unsure if Jeudy was going to play in Week 3, so we’ll monitor the practice reports this week.

Gabe Davis, BUF - Ankle

After injuring his ankle during practice, Gabe Davis missed the Bills Monday night game and the team didn’t skip a beat scoring 40 points. That said, Davis is an intricate part of the Bills offense so we’ll need to see how this week of practice goes considering it’s a short week for them.

Devin Duvernay, BAL - Concussion

It flew under the radar because of the Dolphins comeback against the Ravens but in the fourth quarter of that game, Devin Duvernay suffered a concussion which puts his Week 3 status in question. It’s a weak receiving corps to begin with so their passing game might look very different in Week 3 if Duvernay can not get cleared.

Michael Gallup, DAL - Knee

After avoiding PUP, we expected Michael Gallup to be back before Week 4 and that looks to be the case as Gallup has a chance to play in Week 3. It helps that this game is being played on Monday night, giving Gallup an extra day to get ready. The expectation with Gallup’s return is that he won’t play a full snap share when he initially returns.

Julio Jones, TB - Knee

So it’s going to be hard to judge whether or not Julio Jones is on a week-to-week basis because of how Tampa is going to deploy him. He’s not going to practice on Wednesdays moving forward and it looks like he may just be resting throughout the week to preserve his already banged-up knee. We’ll just have to monitor reports coming out from the team because if he’s not practicing like it’s being suggested in the tweet below, it’ll be hard to have any faith in him on a weekly basis.

Alec Pierce, IND - Concussion

After the Week 1 loss in which Pierce dropped a touchdown pass, he developed concussion-like symptoms and was placed in concussion protocol. He didn’t play Week 2 and we’ll have to see about Week 3 as practice begins all around the league.

KJ Hamler, DEN - Knee

After playing a bunch of snaps in Week 1, KJ Hamler couldn’t go in Week 2 as he was inactive for the Broncos in their win against the Texans. He tore his ACL last year and the Broncos are giving him maintenance weeks, so we could potentially see him back for Week 3.

Mecole Hardman, KC - Ankle

Although Mecole Hardman got through the Chiefs Week 2 performance, he came out of the game with some sort of ankle injury that will have to monitor throughout this week of practice.

NFL Tight End Injury Report

George Kittle, SF - Groin

According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, George Kittle was very close to playing in Week 2, so with an extra week off he should be all systems go for Week 3 barring a setback.

C.J. Uzomah, NYJ - Hamstring

It’s going to be another iffy week for C.J. Uzomah as a word from head coach Robert Saleh is that he’ll be a game-time decision in Week 3. Tyler Conklin has played a LOT of snaps in each of the first two weeks and we can expect much of the same if Uzomah doesn’t play in Week 3.
