NFL DFS Ownership & Leverage Week 3, 2026: Best Chalk & Contrarian Plays
Week 3 and the board is moving faster than ever. Jaxson Dart's out for the year. Kenneth Walker's turned into exactly what Kansas City paid for. And a guy who was 15% owned two weeks ago is sitting at zero right now. Buckle up.
Here's where I've got my money, straight from Fantasy Alarm's DK and FD models: the chalk that's earned it, the guys nobody's touching who should be owned, where the real leverage lives, and how I'd actually build around all of it.
NFL DFS Ownership Projections Week 3
Ravens-Cowboys is the game everyone's building around, highest total on the board at 53.5 with Baltimore -3.5, and it's feeding both Derrick Henry and CeeDee Lamb. On the flip side, Titans-Giants is sitting dead last at 37.5, and that's before you even factor in what's happening at quarterback for New York. Chiefs-Dolphins (45.5, Chiefs -10) and Seahawks-Commanders (40.5, Seahawks -7.5) are the other two blowout-shaped lines pushing ownership around this week.
Highest-Owned NFL DFS Players
Gibbs is the chalk king again, no surprise there. What is a little surprising is Kenneth Walker sitting right behind him. Kansas City didn't hand him $43 million to sit on the bench, and three weeks in, the investment is paying off exactly like it was drawn up.

The Titans DST sitting at nearly 30% owned isn't complicated: cheap salary, plus Jameis Winston, who has never in his life been shy about throwing it to the wrong team. Price and turnover odds - that's the whole equation.
Best NFL DFS Chalk Plays
Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, DET vs. NYJ
Detroit's favored by 6.5 in a 48.5-total game, but honestly, he doesn't need the plus matchup. Gibbs has earned this ownership on role alone, and I'm not fading a bell cow just because the price is up there.
Kenneth Walker, RB, KC vs. MIA
A three-year, $43 million deal this offseason, signed specifically to fix a run game that was near the bottom of the league in rush rate a year ago. It's working. Chiefs are laying 10 at home in their softest matchup of the year, so pay up and move on.
Titans DST vs. NYG
Jameis Winston makes his first start of the season for a Giants offense that just lost its franchise quarterback for good, and turnovers follow Winston wherever he goes. Add a $2,400 DK price tag, one of the cheapest defenses on the board, and this is chalk for a reason.
Dalton Schultz, TE, HOU vs. IND
Nico Collins sits again with that hamstring, and Schultz already showed you what happened the last time Collins was out: 14 targets, 12 catches, 140 yards. Why would this week look any different?
Jaylen Warren, RB, PIT vs. CIN
Rico Dowdle's toe has him day-to-day, and we already saw the answer when Dowdle sat; Warren played 72% of the snaps. If Dowdle's out again, Warren's the guy, full stop.
Christian McCaffrey, RB, SF vs. ARI
49ers are 8.5-point home favorites in a 47.5-total game. Doesn't matter who else touches the ball in that backfield, McCaffrey's share stays massive.
Dalton Kincaid, TE, BUF vs. LAC
Leads every tight end in the league in receiving yards through two weeks, and he's Josh Allen's guy against a Chargers defense that ranks 29th against the pass. Buffalo's laying 7 at home. Here's the catch: this is almost entirely a FanDuel story. He's legit chalk there at 23.6%, but DraftKings hasn't caught on yet at 5.2%.
Best NFL DFS Low-Owned Plays
Every week there's a handful of guys with real salary and a real job that the field just isn't rostering, usually because of a bad record or somebody else's headline stealing the spotlight. A couple of these only qualify as low-owned on one site, I'll call that out as we go.

Geno Smith's DK number is the one that matters; he's priced like a game manager against a Lions defense that's been torched for two straight weeks. We see ownership of Garrett Wilson starting to rise, and pairing him with a cheap Geno Smith opens up a lot of options.
Joe Burrow is 2-0, off the injury report completely, threw two touchdowns to Chase last week, and yet has no ownership due to this perceived tough Steelers defense who haven’t been tested yet through the air.
The Chargers offense has been horrid to begin the season, but the Bills defense hasn’t been good either. If this one turns into a track meet, the value is definitely there with a low-rostered Herbert and his wide receivers in this Mike McDaniel offense.
On the ground, Quinshon Judkins is only cheap-owned on DraftKings; FanDuel's field already found him at nearly 17%. His matchups were brutal to start the year, but Carolina's run defense has been an actual disaster, 291 yards allowed in the opener, then 72 more on just 16 carries to Bijan Robinson last week. Judkins could be primed for a breakout performance with an improved Browns offense.
Cam Skattebo is the lead back in New York's backfield no matter who's throwing him the ball; the field's just fading the whole Giants operation over the Winston news.
Javonte Williams cooled off last week, but as the only RB in town for the Cowboys, the volume and touchdown upside is always going to be there.
At receiver, Justin Jefferson at 5.5% DK is the same story it's been all year; Minnesota's quarterback carousel is scaring people off a target hog who doesn't care who's throwing it to him but having Kyler Murray back this week will be interesting to watch against a Buccaneers defense that let Deshaun Watson go off last week.
Ladd McConkey's priced like a complementary piece in an offense leaning on him harder than that, and he gets the same beat-up Buffalo secondary Herbert does.
The upside for Chase at 6.5% is too good to ignore in GPP’s. Don't sleep on him just because Pittsburgh hasn't allowed a 100-yard receiver yet, that streak came against Atlanta and New England.
At tight end, Oronde Gadsden just became the Chargers' whole tight end room; Charlie Kolar and David Njoku are both injured, so he's the clear No. 1 target there against a bad Buffalo pass defense.
Kincaid's DK number is the low-owned angle; his FanDuel number is the exact opposite, full chalk, covered above. And Freiermuth's the cheap complementary piece in a Steelers offense that should be moving the ball on Cincinnati, who has consistently ranked among the worst defensive teams against tight ends in the NFL for the past few years.

Derrick Henry's the headline here, and he shows up twice: $200-300 cheaper than Gibbs and Walker, a fraction of their ownership, in the single highest-total game on the slate. That's not a bad matchup hiding; that's just two bigger names hogging the spotlight. George Kittle off Schultz is the same play at tight end, and Schultz himself is a fun wrinkle; he's chalk on DraftKings, but he's actually the discount version of Dalton Kincaid on FanDuel, $100 cheaper with less than half the ownership. Wilson off Flowers and Warren off Skattebo round out the group, real roles buried under bigger names.
Best Contrarian NFL DFS Plays
Stack the stuff nobody's touching. That's how you actually separate in a tournament instead of hoping one punt hits.
New York Giants
Malik Nabers, Isaiah Likely, and Jameis Winston, in a game the whole field has given up on. Nabers is under 1% owned on both sites, and pairing him with Winston against a Titans defense that looked good last week against the Eagles but still has questions and is the highest rostered defense on the slate.
Cincinnati Bengals
Burrow, Chase, and Higgins together, a healthy 2-0 quarterback and his legit No. 1 & 2 receivers, both stuck in the low single-digits ownership against a Steelers defense that hasn’t truly been tested yet.
Los Angeles Chargers
Herbert with McConkey and Gadsden, a build around the actual pass-catchers instead of pairing a quarterback with his own back, which fights itself. Herbert's a top-shelf arm at a discount, McConkey's getting more volume than his ownership admits, and Gadsden just became the last healthy tight end on the roster.
Best GPP Plays Based on Ownership
Anchor with a chalk play that's earned it, then build out with the low-owned and leverage names instead of fading the whole top of the board like it's all a trap.
- Chalk anchor: Gibbs or Walker. Both earn it on role and matchup, not name value.
- Leverage pivot: Henry off Gibbs or Walker, or Skattebo off Warren at a similar price.
- Low-owned game stack: Chase, Higgins, and Burrow against Pittsburgh, all three stuck in the low single digits even though Cincinnati's a healthy 2-0 team controlling its own game.
- Value at the bottom: David Montgomery had a huge Week 1 and then had ZERO in Week 2. We have a better matchup in Week 3 against the Colts to try and run the football.
