NBA DFS Showdown Slate Picks

MVP/Captain

Brandon Ingram, New Orleans Pelicans

Ingram is the highest-priced guy on this showdown slate tonight. He is priced at $900 more than his teammate CJ McCollum at the captain spot. I'm not sure I want to pay up for that. He is coming off a game in which he scored just 29 fantasy points, which is less than ideal when you are paying up for someone. He has also yet to eclipse 50 fantasy points in any game since he has been back. He can be solid tonight, but there is some risk.

CJ McCollum, New Orleans Pelicans

Like Ingram, McCollum is also coming off a bad game. He scored just 21 fantasy points after struggling from the field going 6-19. Unlike Ingram, We have seen McCollum put up huge fantasy point nights. CJ scored 45.5 fantasy points in the last meeting against Orlando. That's why he is on the cover of this Showdown Playbook and not Ingram. I would rather pay down for CJ tonight.

Paolo Banchero, Orlando Magic

The number one pick from this year's draft class has hit a little bit of the rookie wall. He has scored fewer than 14 points in three of his last six games. He is coming off a game in which he scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds. But he has just lost his consistency. With him still being the focal point of this offense, it crosses my mind to play him at the captain spot tonight.

Utility

Wendell Carter, Orlando Magic

Wendell Carter is turning into a very nice player for the Orlando Magic averaging 15 points and just under nine rebounds a game. Carter will need to bounce back mightily after going 1-11 from the field in the Magic's last game. However, he was still active in that game grabbing 11 rebounds. He did struggle against New Orleans in the last matchup scoring just 15 fantasy points.  I expect him to be a little better tonight.

Markelle Fultz, Orlando Magic

I really enjoy watching Markelle Fultz succeed after a very tumultuous start to his career. He has been very solid for fantasy purposes as well. Over his past 10 games, he has failed to score under 28 fantasy points just once over that span. Just as the rest of the team struggled against the Pelicans in their last meeting Fultz only scored 17 fantasy points in just 24 minutes. He has played over 30 minutes in 11 straight games.

Jonas Valanciunas, New Orleans Pelicans

This is a very solid matchup for Valanciunas most likely drawing the matchup of Wendell Carter Jr. Jonas will just be able to bull ball him a bit down by the rim as he did in their last meeting. Valanciunas finished that game with a 20-10 double-double for 38 fantasy points. Play him again in this one.

Josh Richardson, New Orleans Pelicans

Richardson is playing with the staring five now after Trey Murphy went to the bench. Richardson has played 29 and 32 minutes in his last two games and has failed to score fewer than 25 fantasy points in either game. He is a little pricey tonight, but his floor is there with the Pels.

Dart Throws

Gary Harris, Orlando Magic

Gary Harris is a very capable scorer off this Magic bench. If the three is falling for him early he is going to have a good night. He is coming off a game in which he shot just 1-7 from downtown but has shot a whopping 44% from downtown this season on 134 attempts. If Harris gets hot tonight, he can take you to the cash line.

Bol Bol, Orlando Magic

It has been a while since we have seen an awesome Bol Bol game. He is hovering around 16-20 minutes a night and has scored double-digit fantasy points in just two of his last five games. The last time he played the Pelicans he finished with 24.75 fantasy points in just 20 minutes. Maybe he has another putting like that tonight, which would be 10x his value.
