DFS Captain / MVP Picks

Nikola Jokic, DEN

(DK $13,000 / FD $17,200)

After putting up a dud on opening night, the Jokic we know and love showed up in a big way against New Orleans. The three-time MVP finished with 35 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists, and 5 stocks. He has the highest ceiling on the slate and the ability to put up a score you absolutely need every time he takes the floor.

Jamal Murray, DEN

(DK $9,600 / FD $13,000)

Murray exploded for 42 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 8 three-pointers in Denver’s overtime win over New Orleans. He shot 12-of-25 from the field, went 8-of-16 from three and made 10 free throws, playing nearly 43 minutes without committing a turnover. That performance shows his slate-breaking upside, especially when his perimeter shot is falling and he attacks the basket aggressively.

Stephen Curry, GSW

(DK $8,600 / FD $12,400)

Curry has averaged 23.5 points through his first two appearances despite shooting just 29.4% from three, leaving room for positive shooting regression. His rebound and assist totals fell off slightly last season, but his elite scoring potential still gives him significant upside. The savings from Jokic and Murray give Curry a path to being optimal in the top lineup spot if both players have down games.

Yaxel Lendeborg, GSW

(DK $7,800 / FD $11,000)

The Golden State rookie is coming off a breakout performance, recording 26 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 three-pointers in 36 minutes against Phoenix. He also produced 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists in the previous game, and Golden State had more regular rotation players available that game. Lendeborg is averaging 18.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists through three regular-season games, and his ability to fill up the stat sheet makes him an intriguing option.

DFS Utility Picks

Aaron Gordon, DEN

(DK $7,400 / FD $9,800)

Gordon opened the regular season with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and a block in 29 minutes against Oklahoma City, but he had a more modest performance last game against New Orleans despite playing 37 minutes. He's at best the third option in the offense, which limits his upside, but his ability to contribute in multiple categories makes him a strong Flex option.

Brandin Podziemski, GSW

(DK $7,000 / FD $8,800)

Podziemski recorded 18 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block in 33 minutes against Memphis in the only game he has played thus far. He sat out Golden State's other two contests due to a back injury, but he is off the injury report and should return to the starting lineup on Monday.

Draymond Green, GSW

(DK $6,200 / FD $6,000)

Green is cleared to return Monday after sitting out Saturday’s loss to Phoenix with a back issue, and he is expected to resume his usual starting role. In his first two games of the season, he averaged 3.5 points, 7.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 26 minutes per game. He will likely be asked to contain Jokic on the defensive end, which increases his risk of foul trouble. The ceiling is limited, but Green contributes in multiple categories and can be a useful Flex play.

Trevon Brazile, DEN

(DK $5,400 / FD $3,000)

With Johnson listed as doubtful and Jones out, Brazile should continue seeing meaningful minutes as a bench contributor. Even if Hopkins starts again, Brazile has more upside as a value play. Last game, he posted 17 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal in 28 minutes, shooting 6-of-11 from the field and 3-of-7 from three-point range against New Orleans.
