DFS Captain / MVP Picks

Cade Cunningham, DET

(DK CPT - $18,000, UTIL - $12,000)

It’ll be hard not to use Cade Cunningham in the captain’s chair. It’s a pace-up spot for the Pistons, and Cunningham is one of the league’s best fantasy players. On the year, he has a 32.2% USG and averages 1.4 FP/min. He’s put up 57+ DKP in three straight games and has had a double or triple-double in all three. It’s what he does.

Deni Avdija, POR

(DK CPT - $17,100, UTIL - $11,400)

Without Jrue Holiday this year, Deni Avdija is tied for the team lead with a 30.5% USG and is the outright leader at 1.37 FP/min. This is a tough spot, but Avdija is running point and is consistently flirting with double and triple-doubles. He’s had 47.8 DKP or more in eight of his last 10 games.

Jalen Duren, DET

(DK CPT - $15,000, UTIL - $10,000)

Although he’s listed on the injury report, Jalen Duren is listed as probable and is expected to play. The Portland Trail Blazers have allowed the eighth most points in the paint this year, and that’s where Duren does most of his work. He averages the fourth-most paint touches per game at 10.6 and is tied for 4th in points in the paint at 10.2.

Shaedon Sharpe, POR

(DK CPT - $14,400, UTIL - $9,600)

There’s just a massive ceiling because he has a very high usage rate, so Shaedon Sharpe makes the end of the captain’s chair. He could be a way to fit two stars from this game and not have to completely punt one of your positions. Sharpe has a 30.5% USG and is averaging over 1 FP/min.

 

 


 

DFS Utility Picks

Jerami Grant, POR

(DK CPT - $12,900, UTIL - $8,600)

We’re unsure about Jerami Grant’s status at this point because he’s dealing with an Achilles injury, but if he plays, he’ll start and top 30 minutes. He has a very high ceiling as he averages over 1 FP/min and has a 26% USG rate.

Donovan Clingan, POR

(DK CPT - $12,000, UTIL - $8,000)

It is always a good thing to see Donovan Clingan’s minutes trending in the direction they have over the last two games. He’s topped 30 minutes in two straight and has 38+ DKP in those outings. The team needs his size against the rough and tough Pistons front court featuring Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart.

Tobias Harris, DET

(DK CPT - $8,400, UTIL - $5,600)

Safe. That’s what Tobias Harris is. He’ll be one of the few Pistons players who’ll play or approach 30 minutes because this team continues to play 11-12 guys on a nightly basis.

Isaiah Stewart, DET

(DK CPT - $7,800, UTIL - $5,200)

There’s always a chance that the Pistons decide to run a double-big lineup out there and Isaiah Stewart gets extended. His role is already pretty solid as he’s consistently playing 20+ minutes nightly and has even played 31 minutes as a ceiling during this stretch.

  • Robert Williams, POR (DK CPT - $6,600, UTIL - $4,400 / FD CPT - $7,500, UTIL - $5,000) – Elite fantasy producer for his minutes/price.
  • Duncan Robinson, DET (DK CPT - $6,000, UTIL - $4,000 / FD CPT - $7,800, UTIL - $4,200) – Continues to start and is an elite floor spacer. Can fill it up with shooting ability.
  • Jaden Ivey, DET (DK CPT - $3,600, UTIL - $2,400 / FD CPT - $6,000, UTIL - $4,000) – There is seemingly no telling when Jaden Ivey’s minutes will approach 20 or close to 10.
  • Javonte Green, DET (DK CPT - $3,300, UTIL - $2,200 / FD CPT - $2,400, UTIL - $1,600) – Could get a bump if Ron Holland sits. Playing teens minutes with Holland and is productive.
