PrizePicks Expert Picks: NBA DFS Today, 2/23

Damian Lillard DFS Plays: PG, Milwaukee Bucks

“Dame Time” has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start to his Bucks career and while the All-Star guard is averaging 24.6 points per game, he is also shooting just 42% from the floor and 34% from three-point range.

Tonight, he faces the top team in the Western Conference in the Minnesota Timberwolves who boast a strong defensive core which includes guards Mike Conley and Anthony Edwards. We are looking at the first half scoring projection for Lillard here today which is set at 12.5 points.

When looking at recent trends, Lillard has finished less than this total in four of the last five games and overall this season he’s scored more than 12.5 points in only 29% of games played. Fresh off the All-Star break, on the road, against a tough opponent, I see Lillard getting off to a slow first half here this evening.

  • Pick: Less than 12.5 1st Half Points

Anthony Edwards DFS Plays: SG, Minnesota Timberwolves

Staying in this matchup between the Bucks and Timberwolves I go to the other side where we have Anthony Edwards in a great matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks who have really struggled against opposing scoring guards this season. Edwards plays the entire first quarter which is exactly what we are looking for here when targeting first quarter scoring projections.

Edwards scoring projection is set at 7.5 points tonight which is a total we’ve seen him finish higher than in four of the last five games and in their lone meeting this season he had nine first quarter points.

  • Pick: More than 7.5 1st Quarter Points

Jalen Johnson DFS Plays: F, Atlanta Hawks

PrizePicks still has the “Demons & Goblins” on their board, and I usually like to put one “goblin” play in my entry on those protected flex Friday days so today we are going with the Jalen Johnson “goblin” projection of 11.5 points.

The Hawks forward has had a breakout season, averaging 15.7 points per game while shooting 52.4% from the floor and nearly 35% from three-point range. The Raptors are not a good defensive team and I’ll look for Johnson to continue his top scoring ways here this evening.

  • Pick: More than 11.5 Points (Goblin)
