Top-Tier NBA DFS Core Plays

Luka Doncic, PG, Dallas Mavericks

Luka has a great matchup against the Atlanta Hawks who are on the second night of a back-to-back. The Hawks have the fourth-worst defensive rating in the NBA and rank 6th in pace. Luka is also on another level at the moment averaging 66.8 DKP over his past five games while averaging just under a triple-double. The only issue with this one is a potential blowout with the Hawks having tired legs.

Nikola Jokic, C, Denver Nuggets (DraftKings only)

Like Luka, Nikola Jokic has been on fire as of late as well putting up 77, and 78 DKP in his last two games. Joker has a triple-double upside each night as well and is just averaging under a triple-double in three games against the Clippers this season. With Jamal Murray being questionable and not looking like he will play for the 7th straight game Jokic is my favorite top-tier player tonight.

Jalen Brunson, PG, New York Knicks

Jalen Brunson is back to his aggressive ways over his past three games getting up at least 25 attempts in two of those games. In all three of those games, he has also played 35 minutes in each after being under that number in the previous four games played. The matchup is good for the Knicks in this one with the Kings wanting to play at a faster pace.  If you want to pay down from Jokic or Doncic and go with a fair and balanced lineup, I believe Brunson is your best option.

Mid-Tier NBA DFS Core Plays

Stephen Curry, PG, Golden State Warriors

This is a big game as it pertains to the playoff picture with the Warriors three games up on the Rockets with seven games left. Stephen Curry is not someone who shies away in big games. He has been quiet as of late playing just 35 minutes and scoring over 40 DKP once. With him struggling as of late we are getting Curry priced at just $8,600. At that price, it is just too juicy for me not to put him in the core play section of this article. I could see Steph blowing up tonight and perhaps playing a few more minutes in a huge game.

Fred VanVleet, PG, Houston Rockets

Looking at the other side of this game Fred VanVleet could fly under the radar tonight. We know he is going to play close to 40 minutes tonight as he has done so in three of his past five games and that is a great number. He is coming off a 22-5-5 line for 47 DKP. VanVleet comes in at just under 8K on DraftKings which is a nice price making him playable tonight.

Jalen Johnson, PF, Atlanta Hawks

Jalen Johnson has been back for two games and it did not take him long to ramp back up. He is coming off a 37-minute night in which he finished with a triple-double and finishing with 76 DKP against Detroit. The matchup tonight isn't as good as it was last night but the Mavericks Do rank top-10 in pace and bottom-11 in defensive rating. Getting someone who has a 75+ DKP ceiling on any given night for under 7K you just have to play him.

Donte DiVincenzo, SG/SF, New York Knicks

The theme of the night as it is most nights later in the DFS season is the minutes guys are playing. One thing we know about the Knicks and their guys is they are going to play a lot of minutes. This is a pace-up matchup for the Knicks against the Kings and DiVincenzo is coming off a 51-DKP night. With him still sitting under under 7K I will have some shares of Donte tonight.

Ivica Zubac, C, Los Angeles Clippers (DraftKings Only)

Outside of Nikola Jokic, Ivica Zubac is my favorite center play on the slate tonight. As long as he stays out of foul trouble he will play around 30 minutes being the best matchup against Nikola Jokic. In the three games against the Nuggets this season Zubac averages 28 minutes and a 14-12 double-double. Play Zubac tonight to expect a solid floor at the center position.

Value-Tier NBA DFS Core Plays

Reggie Jackson, PG, Denver Nuggets

This play depends on whether or not Jamal Murray suits up for the Nuggets tonight. But if Jackson starts once again tonight he is a fine play. In the last four games started for Jackson, he has finished with double-digit shot attempts in each one of those games. His price is at just $5,100 on DK and in the three games against the Clippers this season he has smashed that value averaging 39 DKP.

Norman Powell, SG/SF, Los Angeles Clippers (DraftKings Only)

With Kawhi Leonard being out tonight Norman Powell will once again get the start. He only took seven shots but also got to the line for six free throws as well finishing with 17 game points and 25 DKP. Powell does not give much else from a peripheral stats standpoint so his numbers really depend on him knocking down shots. At 5K on DK, I can see him going 5x that value tonight.

Russell Westbrook, PG, Los Angeles Clippers (DraftKings Only)

Russell Westbrook played his highest amount of minutes since coming back from injury with 24 minutes. He finished with 20 game points and 24 DKP. It was surprising to see the lack of rebounds and assist numbers from Russ in his last game. I expect that to come back to average in this one, and that would give him a 35 DKP ceiling tonight with Kawhi Leonard out.

Brandin Podziemski, PG/SG, Golden State Warriors

After a rough stretch from Podz over the past few weeks he looks as if he has broken out of that slump. Over his last two games, he has been back to being his active self grabbing 17 rebounds and dishing out nine assists finishing with at least 25 DKP in each. At just $4,500 on DraftKings and those peripheral stats continue he should have no problem hitting his value in this one.

Trey Lyles, PF/C, Sacramento Kings

Trey Lyles has been a big part of this Kings rotation since coming back from injury two games ago. In the last game, he played 26 minutes scored 15 points, dished out five assists, and grabbed four rebounds finishing with 32.5 DKP. Lyles has always been a very good fantasy point-per-minute guy throughout his career and nothing changes in this one against the Knicks who have a solid rotation of big men. Lyles is priced at just $3.600 on DraftKings which is just too low.
