Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

Nikola Jokic, C Denver Nuggets

As I look over the slate more I find myself going back to Jokic here this evening. Looking at the Dallas Mavericks front court just has me licking my lips for what is a matchup that will entail Grant Williams and Dereck Lively with some other rotational players. Jokic has been scoring at a high clip and we know he is a triple-double threat.

Stephen Curry, PG Golden State Warriors

Even without SGA playing tonight the matchup between the Warriors and Thunder sits with a 224.5 game total and just a 6.5-point spread. Curry has popped off to start the season, having two games with 40+ points already on his ledger. If the Thunder are competitive here then you know Curry is as capable of giving you 6x return on his price tag as anyone on the slate.

Nikola Vucevic, C Chicago Bulls

He was the cover of the NBA DFS Preview Show and if you tuned in you know why. Vucevic has been a monster for the past two games at a great price tag and the sites just really aren't adjusting that tag on him. Today he draws a matchup against the Nets who are still without Nic Claxton and have been going with a smaller lineup where Ben Simmons plays the center spot on defense. I'm loving this for Vucevic here this evening who has back-to-back 50 fantasy point efforts.

Jalen Williams, PF Oklahoma City Thunder

With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander out of the lineup we need to pivot here in OKC and that pivot is going to be focused on a few different players but right now the highest rostership and projections are going the way of Jalen Williams. The second-year forward was stellar during his rookie campaign and finds himself averaging 16.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists through the teams first five contests. With SGA off the floor we should see plenty of more shot attempts find his way here against the Warriors this evening.

Malcolm Brogdon, PG Portland Trail Blazers

Brogdon was acquired by the Blazers in the deal that sent Jrue Holiday to the Boston Celtics and he's thrived off the bench to begin the season, averaging 18.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists over the teams first five games of the year. With Scott Henderson ruled out tonight there is a good chance he finds himself entering the team's starting lineup but even if he remains in a sixth-man role his minutes and usage should be on the rise with a ceiling assist game potentially coming in this matchup against a Grizzlies team that is off to an 0-5 start.

Mispriced Plays to Target (Players Priced to Exceed Value)

Jarrett Allen, C Cleveland Cavaliers

All signs are pointing towards Allen making his debut for the Cavaliers this evening and if that ends up being the case I think the pricing here is a bit too low for Allen. Basing this assumption off the fact that he won't have any limitations here, the matchup against the Pacers is a great one given their weaker front court play and Allen is a double-double threat every time he steps on the floor while bringing the potential 6x-7x return on his price tag tonight across the platforms.

Tim Hardaway Jr., SG Dallas Mavericks

I know most will comment that Kyrie Irving being back may cause THJ's numbers to take a step back but Hardaway is coming off the bench for Dallas, not playing with their initial starting unit which gives him a good shot at being on the floor with just one of Luka Doncic or Kyrie Irving at times and not both. We also saw all three active during the team's opening night contest and THJ went for 30+ fantasy points in that contest as well. He's a shooter and even contributing with some activity on the glass this season as well which is helping to raise his ceiling.

Immanuel Quickley, PG/SG New York Knicks

Now that we know RJ Barrett is ruled out tonight we need to take a look at who benefits. In the second half against the Cavaliers the other night Quickley basically did not come off the floor. We know he is a dynamic offensive player that can take over games when given the opportunities to do so and now we have a Bucks back court that really lacks a defensive stopper. We know Quickley is in the rotation already and an additional minutes boost should help us get that 5-7x return on his price tonight.

Favorite Bargain Plays to Use for DFS Lineups

Isaiah Joe, SF/PG Oklahoma City Thunder

For some reason DraftKings has Joe listed as a small forward while on FanDuel he is listed at his actual position of point guard. Either way, Joe is getting a ton of ownership love here this evening and for good reason as the man showed last year he can be a straight shooter when called upon to do so. He's off to a bit of a slow start to the season but isn't afraid to shoot when in the game, averaging over seven shots per game while playing just 18.5 minutes per night. Joe is also one of the team's better three-point shooters, last season shooting 40% from beyond-the-arc. This type of offensive upside is going to be needed if they are looking to keep pace with the Golden State Warriors.

Luke Kennard, SG Memphis Grizzlies

Kennard played 21 minutes in the Grizzlies blowout loss to the Jazz the other night but still took nine shots. He wasn't getting “blowout run” either. Subbing into the game at the end of the first quarter, playing most of the second and half of the third. We know Kennard can get hot from three and he is a great value tonight if you are willing to understand he has a really low floor here as well.

Josh Richardson, SG/SF Miami Heat

Now, the Heat were missing some players the other day but Richardson still played 30 minutes after playing 23 minutes in his season debut. With the Heat being without Caleb Martin and still looking to replace Max Strus it seems likely that Richardson is someone who is going to be a big part of this Miami rotation this season, at least to start. We have a great matchup here against the Wizards. On a slate where there isn't a ton of great value, he is someone who is getting the playing time.

Dario Saric, PF/C Golden State Warriors

We know his role, it's to play 20 minutes off the bench for the Warriors and really not play much more than that whether a close game or a blowout. This obviously means we need Saric to be both active and efficient with his activity. Fortunately, he has been just that threw the team's first five games of the season as he is averaging 21.6 fantasy points per game over 19.1 minutes. So, while I won't call him safe, I like the consistency we are seeing from him so far this season and look at him much in the way I do Bobby Portis right now who has a similar role and is way more expensive.

Donte DiVincenzo & Josh Hart, New York Knicks

With RJ Barrett ruled out we see Josh Hart move into the starting lineups .One of our favorte GPP dart throws, Hart has broken the slate many times in the past with his ability to rebound the basketball and then get hot from the floor. He has played 28 and 29 minutes over the last two games and has at least seven rebounds over the last three games. He shot 5-for-14 from the floor on Wednesday, a shooting night like that is what we are looking for here.

For DDV, he came off the bench and played 30 minutes. He is someone that shoots from three-point range and can fill up the stat sheet. At a cheaper price tag he is a good pivot from Hart, just know he isn't going to be the one starting.
