NBA Game Totals

Top Tier Core Plays

Luka Doncic, PG, Dallas Mavericks

Luka Doncic is questionable heading into this one, and if he does not play, Kyrie Irving becomes an auto-lock into the lineup. This matchup against the Pacers is just too good to pass up as they rank second in pace in the NBA and struggle defensively. If Luka plays he has the chance to blow up the slate as he has gone for over 70 fantasy points in four straight games. Play Luka if he is active.

Jayson Tatum, SF/PF, Boston Celtics

Jayson Tatum is in play tonight in an interesting matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kristaps Porzingis and Jalen Brown are both questionable heading into this one meaning more of the offense will fall on his shoulders if they can not suit up. The Cavs are without Donovan Mitchell and Max Strus as they will be short-handed as well. If the Celtics are at full strength tonight this game could be headed toward which could be worrisome for Tatum. However, he played just 25 minutes in a blowout win over the Warriors and still finished with 44.25. Tatum is pretty much bust-proof in this one, even if everyone is healthy.

Jalen Brunson, PG, New York Knicks

Jalen Brunson is questionable for this one after suffering a knee contusion in the last game and playing just one minute. With Julius Randle being out Jalen Brunson has taken a step forward in his offense. Brunson is being uber-aggressive taking over 25 shot attempts in three straight games played. Just off of that stat alone, he is Brunson is in play tonight in a pace-up spot against the Atlanta Hawks.

Dejounte Murray, PG, Atlanta Hawks

Similar to Jalen Brunson with Julius Randle injured, Dejounte Murray has also taken a step forward in the absence of Trey Young. He has taken at least 18 shot attempts in five straight games and has double-digit assists in three of those five games. It isn't a great matchup against the Knicks because of the pace they play, but Murray should still be able to get his in this matchup in Madison Square Garden.

Mid-Tier Core Plays

Alperen Sengun, C, Houston Rockets

With Victor Wembanyama trending toward not playing tonight, Alperen Sengun is the highest-priced center that catches my eye tonight. If Wemby does not play Sengun has a great matchup against Zach Collins who would likely start. I look for Sengun to dominate that matchup en route to a 45+ fantasy point kind of night against a bad Spurs team.

Immanuel Quickley, PG, Toronto Raptors

With Scottie Barnes out after hand surgery, Immanuel Quickley will have the ball in his hands much more. In the one game without Barnes Quickley finished with 22 points 11 assists and seven rebounds. I think that would be a stretch to expect that every night, but at just 8K on DraftKings, he is very much in play tonight against the Pelicans and will be in my lineups.

Josh Hart, SF/PF, New York Knicks

With how thin the Knicks are because of injuries, Josh Hart is one of the most important players on this Knicks roster. It has shown as well with him playing over 40 minutes in six straight games. During that span, he has scored at least 34 fantasy points in each game and is coming off 54 and 64 DKP points. Hart's price is high at $7,900 but it really doesnt matter, play him tonight.

RJ Barrett, PF, Toronto Raptors

The other guy who will benefit from the Scottie Barnes injury is RJ Barrett.  In the first game without Barnes in the lineup, Barrett finished with 23 points eight rebounds, and five assists. It is a solid matchup against the Pelicans in this one, and I expect him to hit 5x his value tonight at his $7,700. Play Barrett tonight.

Fred VanVleet, PG, Houston Rockets

Fred VanVleet is coming off back-to-back solid performances against the Phoenix Suns. He finished with 38 and 52 DKP while scoring at least 21 game points in each matchup. What we love from FVV He has taken double-digit three point attempts in three of his past five games. The Spurs do not guard anybody, and VanVleet should find himself self with some open looks tonight. The only issue with this one is if it ends in a blowout

Darius Garland, PG, Cleveland Cavaliers

With Donovan Mitchell out tonight Darius Garland will likely be the highest-owned player on the slate. in the eight games without Mitchell this season, Garland's usage rate jumps from 25% to 28%, plus his points per game go from 17 to 23, and lastly, his fantasy points per minute jump from 1.91 to 2.15. Garland needs to find his way into your lineup tonight even though the matchup against the Celtics isn't a great one.

Myles Turner, C, Indiana Pacers

Myles Turner has just been quietly producing for the Pacers and our DFS lineups as of late. He is priced at just $6,600 on DraftKings and has scored over 33 fantasy points in seven of his last eight games. Turner is not known for his rebounding ability but even in that category, he has been producing grabbing double-digit rebounds in four of those eight games.

Kelly Olynyk, PF/C, Toronto Raptors

Kelly Olynyk looks to be in line to get the start for the Raptors in this one with Jakob Poeltl out with injury. In his last two games playing 26 and 28 minutes, he has produced 22 and 40 DKP.  We know Olynyk can score the basketball but he has been doing the little things as well, having five steals over the past two games. If he is starting play Kelly O tonight.

Early Value Tier Core Plays

Keldon Johnson, SF/PF, San Antonio Spurs

If Wembanyama sits tonight I will be playing Keldon Johnson. His price is all the way down to $5,200 on DraftKings and he has scored at least 26 DKP in two of his last three games. His fantasy points per minute jumped from 1.92 to 2.37 in the six games without Wembanyama this season along with his usage going from 22% to 26%.

Vasilije Micic, PG/SG Charlotte Hornets

Micic has played 28 and 36 minutes in the last two games for the Hornets. He is becoming a big rotation player for the Hornets since coming over from the Thunder. He has posted 25 and 27 DKP points in his last two games while also dishing out seven assists in four straight games.. If this type of run continues, I look for Micic to have another big night, even in a tough matchup against Orlando.

Ochai Agbaji, SF, Toronto Raptors

With the injuries to the Raptors, Ochai Agbaji has now been inserted into the starting lineup. In his one start, he played 33 minutes and scored 30 DKP while scoring 13 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and blocking two shots. He also got up 20 shot attempts. Those shot attempts are not sustainable, but he can keep doing the little things. He is priced under 5K on DK, and I do not mind playing him tonight.

Malaki Branham, PG/SG, San Antonio Spurs

It is so hard to project how many minutes the Spurs role players are going to play, but if Branham gets minutes, he is going to produce. He played 30 minutes in the last game for the Spurs in a win which is a great sign. He finished with 18 game points while also dishing out six assists finishing with 34 DKP. Branham is just $4,300 on DK and should smash his value if he gets 25+ minutes.

Zach Collins, C, San Antonio Spurs

If Victor Wembanyama is out tonight I would expect Zach Collins to get the nod into the starting lineup. Collins has always been a solid fantasy points-per-minute guy but with Wemby off the court, he goes from 2.02 to 2.48. In the five games without Wemby his PPG also go from 10.8 to 16.2. If Wemby is ruled out, Collins is a must-play.

Sam Merrill, SG, Cleveland Cavaliers

Sam Merrill is in the rotation anyway, and without Max Strus and Donovan Mitchell, Merrill could get the start. He is coming off 25 and 29 minutes and he finished with 31 DKP in those 29 minutes. Merrill has gotten up 21 three-point attempts during that span as well, which is all of his shot attempts during that span. If this game ends up being a blowout, he will play, if it stays close, he will play. It is a win-win at such a solid price.

Late-News Core Play & News Section

*Section for players we are considering “core plays” based on late-breaking news & research

  • Jalen Brunson has been ruled out tonight. Fire up Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo. Miles McBride is also interesting at his price, although Shake Milton is available to make his Knicks debut as well, and could steal some minutes.
  • With Tyrese Maxey out tonight, I like Kyle Lowry as a value play tonight.
