Notable NBA Game Totals

Top Tier Core Plays

Giannis Antetokounmpo (PF/C), Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis is the easy top play of the slate as he is one of the only players on this slate that has legit 70 fantasy point upside. The Bucks are on the second leg of the back-to-back as denoted above, however, most of their starters only saw mid-twenty minutes due to the blow out over the Pistons last night. Giannis only saw 26 minutes, but still managed 43 fantasy points. As long as the game stays close, Giannis should be a lock for 60+ fantasy points, and see as how Jokic has put up multiple 70+ fantasy games vs the Rockets already this year, Giannis should be able to do the same here.

Devin Booker (PG/SG), Phoenix Suns

We know how bad the Wizards are on defense, and that is highly indicative by the 13-point spread here, but the big thing is this game is hosting a 246-point total, easily the highest on the slate so we know there should be a TON of possessions in this one. Booker has been great to say the least, and now with it being his show with Durant mainly, he should continue to count stats in most categories. Book has recorded 47 or more fantasy points in five of his last six, with the 43 fantasy point game coming against a tough Knicks squad. He should demolish this Wizard's team.

Kevin Durant (SF/PF), Phoenix Suns

Staying right here in this Suns vs Wizards game, but with this kind of a game total, it's way too friendly for fantasy. Durant has dealt with an injury of his own, but did return to action and played 38 and 35 minutes in both of his last two games while netting 46 and 44 fantasy points against the Nets and Knicks. Once again, the Wizards are 3rd in PACE, and they will look to speed this game up, so this is great news for the Suns studs.

Stephen Curry (PG), Golden State Warriors

I like Curry's price much more than I like Damian Lillard's tonight and I feel this game should be a bit more friendly to Curry in fantasy terms. Curry is averaging nearly 48 fantasy points a night with Draymond OUT, with a 1.3 fantasy point per minute. This game is only five-six points on the spread with a modest total of 232, so I like this one to be a bit competitive. Curry is a nice look and many may not go here tonight with the Sun's and Buck's studs ahead.

Mid-Tier Core Plays

Fred VanVleet (PG), Houston Rockets

We will consistently stay attacking Damian Lillard defense because it is so friendly. Even in the blow out last night for the Pistons, Cade Cunningham still managed to accrue 25 points, a rebounds, six assists, and a steal in 31 minutes of action. FVV is coming off a nice game against the Grizzlies where he played 36 minutes and recorded 48 fantasy points scoring 16 points to go with six boards, eight dimes, two blocks and four steals.

Anfernee Simons (PG), Portland Trail Blazers

Simons is more than back and is putting up huge fantasy games since returning to the starting unit after his injury. Simons has had one rough game out of five only going for 21 fantasy points against the Jazz, but in the other four - 55, 48, 49, and 38 fantasy points. The Warriors have upped their PACE a bit lately and that should make for this game to be a fun environment for fantasy. Simons is leading the team by a decent margin in usage rate for those five games, with a 29.6% usage for that span. This should continue once again here tonight at home.

Jusuf Nurkic (C), Phoenix Suns

Nurkic has been playing extremely well as of late, accruing 40+ fantasy points in three-straight games. I think Suns stacks will likely be uber-popular tonight, but obviously for good reason. The Wizards have given up massive fantasy games to opposing Centers and I don't really see this one being much different as Nurkic's size is a bit too much for this frontcourt. I think Nurkic is priced accordingly, but he has had a ceiling lately.

Jerami Grant (SF/PF), Portland Trail Blazers

Grant was side-lined for four games due to concussion protocol, but made his return last night against the Mavericks and played a whopping 38 minutes. In that game, Grant poured in 27 points, grabbed five boards, and dished a dime on his way to securing 35.5 fantasy points on the night. Grant will continue to be an excellent source of scoring, but we do wish he would throw in some other defensive peripherals at times. However, if he is going to play 35+ minutes a night, this is a good spot.

Klay Thompson (SG/SF), Golden State Warriors

Maybe the reports about Klay turning down a contract extension earlier before the season and now prior to his recent couple of games, there was new reports stating that offer was “no longer on the table”, may have lit a bit of a fire under Thompson. In Klay's last two games, he has recorded 39 and 47 fantasy points against the Nets and Clippers. He took 19 and 15 shot attempts and we are finally seeing a bit of life from him as he is rebounding and grabbing the occasional block or steal. This is big and if he can continue this, his price is more than fair tonight in this game environment. Klay has actually played a bit better on the road so far this season, averaging nearly four more fantasy points per game in his road travels compared to home floor.

Value Tier Core Plays

Khris Middleton (SG/SF), Milwaukee Bucks

Middleton is finally getting back to a “normal” starter's load of minutes since ramping up his work over the course of the last month in his return from a knee injury. Seeing him getting roughly 30 minutes a night over his last three games played is more than encouraging. As a result, Middleton secured 38, 39, and 39 fantasy points in those three games to boot. He took last night off to basically play in this game on the second-leg of the back-to-back so we should expect 30 minutes tonight and has been very productive lately.

Brandin Podziemski (PG/SG), Golden State Warriors

Podziemski continues to get heavy minutes within the Warrior's starting five unit with Draymond suspended indefinitely. He has now played 29, 32, and 35 minutes in his last three games, while putting up 40+ fantasy points in two of those three games. As long as he is in the starting five, his value at this price is very nice. He contributes a little in all categories, and he is very good on defense.

Scoot Henderson (PG), Portland Trail Blazers

The Blazers are going to play Scoot regardless of who is healthy or not. Henderson is their guy and why they took the draft capital on him to develop with experience. Before last game, Scoot has played 30+ minutes in three-straight games, putting up 37 and 43 fantasy points vs the Clippers and Jazz. He likely won't see 30+ minute while Brogdon is healthy, but he is likely the first off the bench and should see 25 or so minutes.

Tari Eason (SF/PF), Houston Rockets

Eason has come along nicely and has put up some nice fantasy games since given extended run lately. Eason has played 23, 27, and 27 minutes in his last three games while putting up 28, 50, and 43 fantasy points in those three as well. This is a massive pace-up spot for the Rockets, and Eason should continue to see good run. Tate is also questionable to play here again, and if he sits, Eason should see the floor more as well.

Jordan Goodwin (PG), Phoenix Suns

With Beal on the shelf for another good amount of time, Goodwin should continue to soak up the 2nd unit run for the Suns. Also, Eric Gordon is probable to play here tonight as he deals with his own minor injuries, and Josh Okogie is out for this game, leaving the Suns even more thin in the backcourt. Goodwin has played well with his bench role, he has seen 23, 27, and 30 minutes the last three games played, and put up 21 or more fantasy points in three of his last four games. Obviously, if this game gets out of hand early, he should get extended garbage time to boot.
