Luka To Lakers: Mavs Trade Doncic To LA For Anthony Davis (Trade Details)

The past few years haven’t really seen all that much excitement at the NBA trade deadline. This season was expected to be quite similar. And then, tonight happened – well, early morning, if you’re on the east coast.
The Mavs have traded Luka Doncic to the Lakers. With LeBron James on his way out of the league soon, Los Angeles was in dire need of a “face-of-the-franchise” type of player for when that time does come. It appears they have found just that now with the Luka to Lakers trade.
Did Luka Get Traded To The Lakers?
We had to really simplify things with this first section, because it’s still hard to believe. Who would have ever thought they’d be asking themselves, “Did Luka get traded to the Lakers?” But he just has been.
It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out for both teams, the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s hard to imagine that Laker nation doesn’t feel like they got the better end of this deal though, especially right now at the moment.

Luka Doncic Contract, Age, Stats & More
Luka’s contract terms are something Laker fans are going to want to familiarize themselves with. He’s only signed through the 2026-27 season, and will make $43M this season, $46M next season and $49M in 2026-27.
It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see LA make sure he stays in town when Luka’s contract is indeed up, knowing the franchise that they are. He’s still only just 25 years of age and has averaged 28+ PPG in five of his seven NBA seasons, 8+ RPG in six of them and 8+ APG in five of them as well.
Oh, and he also has a career FG% of 47% and shoots threes at a 34.8% clip. He truly is elite, and no matter the numbers on this Luka contract or his future one(s), they probably aren’t high enough.
