Daily Dribble
Welcome to the Daily Dribble where we serve up the latest Fantasy Basketball news and insight so you can make BBQ chicken of your competition. We’ll focus on Daily Fantasy Site (DFS) play, but we will sprinkle in some weekly, season long, and/or dynasty/keeper league insight that should help shape your decision making going forward, as well.
Tuesday, January 28th
Nicolas Batum's MRI results on his right ankle came back negative and he listed as probable for tonight's game against Memphis. Even if Batum plays you should consider avoiding him in DFS play as his injured finger, which requires him to wear a splint, is obviously affecting his shot as he has sank just 10 of his last 29 shot attempts from the field over his last five games and is 0 for his last three games from downtown (0-for-6).
Boston's Backcourt
Rajon Rondo has a new minutes limit of between 20-25 minutes, which still makes him a risky play against a Knicks team that ranks inside the top 10 in limiting fantasy points to opposing teams point guards over the last 15 days. Jerryd Bayless will be available off the bench tonight for the first time in four games, which could also cut into Phil Pressey's potential for minutes.
Cav Concerns
Anderson Varejao will be fitted for knee brace and is questionable tonight with a left knee contusion. If Varejao sits, Tyler Zeller would likely get the start at center for the Cavs. If Varejao does play he could be a sneaky, albeit a risky, GPP play as his ownership will likely be very low and he is facing a Pelicans team that owns the third worst defensive efficiency rating against opposing centers over the last 10 games.
The Slim Reaper
Take a look at Kevin Durant's shot chart over the last six games where he is averaging 39.8 points and 3.7 made 3-pointers. Durant has a ridiculous 73.8 eFG% outside the paint, which is better than most players shooting percentage in the lane. Add to that, Durant is shooting 61% from beyond the arc. It's your parade brah we are just glad we got a chance to ride your coattails to daily league glory before your DFS price tag matched your real life salary.
