Domantas Sabonis Chalkboard NBA Pick: Higher 14.5 Rebounds
Sabonis is back to dominating the glass. He opened with 18 rebounds against the Clippers and followed it with a 27-point, 19-rebound, 10-assist triple-double against Portland on Friday. Through two games, he's averaging 18.5 boards in 36.5 minutes.
Health is the difference from last season, when he was limited to a career-low 19 games. Sabonis averaged more than 13 rebounds per game in each of the two seasons before that, and the Kings are leaning on him heavily with big minutes in both games.
Memphis brings 7-foot-4 Zach Edey, so this is a real test on the glass. Still, a 236.5 total means plenty of misses, and with Sacramento only a small home underdog, Sabonis should be on the floor for the full fourth quarter. Sabonis at Higher 14.5 rebounds leads our Chalkboard NBA picks and is one of the best NBA picks today.
Walker Kessler Chalkboard NBA Pick: Higher 15.5 Points
Kessler gets a homecoming in Utah after a historic two-game start to his Lakers career. He went 12-for-12 for 26 points in his debut and added 22 points and six blocks against the Clippers on Friday.
The matchup could not be better for him. The Jazz allow a league-worst 61.0 points in the paint per game and rank 28th in rebound percentage, and Kessler does nearly all of his scoring at the rim off Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. With the Lakers favored by 6.5 and a 235.5 total, Kessler at Higher 15.5 points rounds out our Chalkboard NBA picks.
