Warriors vs. Rockets Predictions, Picks & Odds: NBA Playoffs Game 7

Despite getting to head back to the west coast for a second opportunity to close out the series, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors fell short yet again. That means that Fred VanVleet and the Houston Rockets get to head back home for the winner-take-all Game 7, and we’ve got our best Warriors vs. Rockets predictions for tonight.
Perfect for fans in California and Texas will also be a guaranteed PrizePicks Fantasy welcome bonus to add to the best bet from our Warriors vs. Rockets picks.
Warriors vs. Rockets Predictions For Tonight NBA Playoffs Game 7, 5/4
The Warriors knew nice and early in Game 5 that closing out the series 4-1 just wasn’t in the cards. So, they threw in the towel in the middle of the third quarter to provide their stars like Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler some rest. That was supposed to help them handle Game 6 back at home.
Obviously, that didn’t come to fruition. Thankfully for our sake, however, Stephen Curry came through for us on Friday night in terms of the best bet from our Warriors vs. Rockets prediction by going over 24.5 points with relative ease (he had 29). As great as that was for us, Golden State now has all the pressure on them.
What they do have going for them is the fact that head coach Steve Kerr is 3-1 in Game 7’s, and that they’ve never lost a playoff series to the Rockets in their franchise history. As for Houston, Fred VanVleet has been remarkable, becoming the first player in their franchise history with back-to-back 25+ point performances in elimination games.
Something’s gotta give, and we’ve found some great value when it comes to targeting the Warriors vs. Rockets odds.
Golden State Warriors: Stephen Curry & Jimmy Butler Not Enough
At this point, just about everyone has seen how impactful the Jimmy Butler trade has been for the Warriors. He’s the primary reason they’re even here, and he and Stephen Curry closed out the season with back-to-back games each scoring 30+ points. Similarly, they both scored 27+ in Friday night’s Game 6.
Despite having been teammates for only a short time, that was already the eighth time that they’ve scored 25+ in the same game. However, that wasn’t enough to overcome how much Fred VanVleet has taken over this series. After all, while Stephen Curry & Jimmy Butler have immense playoff experience, don’t forget VanVleet is a former champion (2019 Raptors) as well.
Houston Rockets: Exploiting The Warriors’ Small Ball
Even fans of teams other than the Warriors know that there has been one very specific trait when it comes to their roster - they play small ball. That also means one very specific way to exploit them, which is exactly what we’ve seen from the Rockets since going down 3-1, especially on Friday night.
In Game 6, Houston had the pairing of big men Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams on the court more often than early in the series. The former has already been incredible thus far, and with Adams in the mix, they dominated the Warriors on defense. In the 75 minutes with those two on the court together, Houston is +39 - a major factor in them forcing tonight’s Game 7.
Warriors vs. Rockets Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
With the series heading back to Houston for this pivotal clash, the Warriors vs. Rockets odds for Game 7 have the home favored:
- Point Spread: Golden State Warriors +2.5 (-110) vs. Houston Rockets -2.5 (-110)
- Money Line: Golden State Warriors (+120) vs. Houston Rockets (-140)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 201.5 (-110) vs. Under 201.5 (-110)
Warriors vs. Rockets Best Bet: Golden State MoneyLine (Add Player Pick ‘Ems At PrizePicks Fantasy)
We appreciate Stephen Curry and others coming through for us during this extended series, as our Warriors vs. Rockets predictions have been targeting player props nearly every single game. However, we’re keeping things nice and basic for this massive Game 7, especially given the plus-money price.
The series heading back to Houston may have the Rockets favored, but that doesn’t make them any more experienced in this spot. Sure, Fred VanVleet has been clutch, but outside of that, the championship pedigree is entirely on the Warriors’ side. That has been especially apparent with Jalen Green being absolutely invisible in this series.
Who is supposed to be Houston’s superstar, especially in terms of scoring (not VanVleet), has come up small in every single game other than Game 2. Again, we love that he hit over 18.5 points for us, but outside of that, Jalen Green has scored 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12 points against Golden State.
We also trust that Steve Kerr is going to be able to adjust to this dual big man lineup that Houston has transitioned to. We already noted his success in Game 7’s, and Stephen Curry has been absolutely phenomenal in these spots.
In his career, Stephen Curry has averaged an amazing 32.6 points per game. That’s the fourth-most in NBA history, so you could even consider adding his points prop yet again to your Warriors vs. Rockets picks.
However, we’re sticking with Golden State’s money line (target player cards at PrizePicks as well) as the focus of our Warriors vs. Rockets predictions.
Warriors vs. Rockets Injury Report & Starting Lineups
As has been the case since Game 2, the Jimmy Butler injury remains the biggest concern when it comes to Warriors vs. Rockets injury news. However, let’s not discount Stephen Curry’s right thumb injury, although it hasn’t proven to be an issue thus far.
It’s going to be interesting to see if Golden State starts Gary Payton again, but with things not working out on Friday night, here are the expected Warriors vs. Rockets lineups for Game 7:
GS Warriors:
HOU Rockets:
- Fred VanVleet
- Jalen Green
- Amen Thompson
- Dillon Brooks
- Alperen Sengun
