Magic vs. Knicks Prediction: Sunday, 10/25

  • Pick: Under 224.5

Two 0-2 teams meet at Madison Square Garden, and neither offense has looked right. The Knicks lost to Philadelphia and Boston and have scored around 100 points a night, and their only home game produced 206 combined points.

Orlando's offense just took a major hit. Paolo Banchero suffered a low-grade right ankle sprain Friday and did not travel to New York, and Jonathan Isaac, Noah Penda and Izaiyah Nelson are also out, with Anthony Black questionable. The Magic are coming off a 115-93 loss to Minnesota in which they shot 20.5% from three.

The risk is Orlando's defense, which has allowed 123.5 points per game so far. But without Banchero, the Magic lose their top shot creator, and New York should be able to control the tempo at home as a 7.5-point favorite. We'll take Under 224.5 as our top NBA best bet.

Michael Porter Over 22.5 Points

Porter has scored 26 and 28 points in Brooklyn's first two games, shooting a combined 9-of-20 from three. He averaged 24.2 points over 52 games last season as the Nets' first option.

Sunday is the second night of a back-to-back, and Brooklyn rested him on some back-to-backs last season to protect his back, so confirm he's active. If he plays, the Nets need his scoring as 6.5-point underdogs to Indiana.

Walker Kessler Over 15.5 Points

Kessler is averaging 24.0 points on 22-of-26 shooting through two games with the Lakers, and he returns to Utah to face the team that allows a league-worst 61.0 paint points per game.

With Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves feeding him at the rim and a 235.5 total, Kessler has a strong chance to clear this number for the third straight game.
