NBA Best Bets Today, 1/12: Picks, Predictions & Player Props - Monday
Egor Demin did not show up for Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets, nor for the Brooklyn Nets. He played 28 minutes but attempted just five field goals, ruining any chance of an over point line being successful. Much less of a teased-up line. Dillon Brooks didn’t record a rebound in the first half and only recorded one in the second half. Thus ruining the expected proposition of over 3.5 rebounds.
The Sacramento Kings gave the Houston Rockets a battle they did not anticipate. Russell Westbrook was a big part of it, picking up the slack left by a short bench. He was able to contribute with points, rebounds, and assists. He finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists in an upset win against his former teammate on the Houston Rockets. He was four assists shy of the +2000 triple-double.Â
However, he did cash on the +372 double-double mentioned in the Fantasy Alarm discord. Make sure to join us, as I am frequently putting last-minute and live bets in the NBA DFS + Betting chatroom. There are six games today, and today’s best bets look at teams playing against weaker teams. As well as a player prop in a return to our favorite proposition.

NBA Best Bets Today, 1/12: Picks, Predictions & Player Props - Monday
Brooklyn Nets vs Dallas Mavericks: Monday 1/12
Game Time: 8:30 PM ET | TV: NBA League Pass |Â Location:Â American Airlines Center |Â Odds:Â DAL -3.5 | O/U 221.5
- Prediction: DAL Moneyline (-170 on DraftKings Sportsbook)Â
The Dallas Mavericks host the Brooklyn Nets, who are fresh off a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies yesterday. Dallas was one of the ten teams that did not play yesterday. They have the advantage of a full day’s rest and are playing at home. That alone gives the Mavericks a reason to be the favorites, but Cooper Flagg will be the best player on the court. That too is an advantage.
It is tempting to take the -3.5 spread on Dallas, but there is no need to be greedy. Dallas has a 14 - 25 record, are 10 - 10 at home, and have lost seven of their last ten games. Anthony Davis is out, P.J. Washington and Brandon Williams are doubtful, and Moussa Cisse is questionable. Expecting them to cover the spread is more of a risk than is needed.Â
The moneyline is at -170, and that is still better than 2:1 odds. Dallas is only 3.0 games back from the play-in, and can make a push before the trade deadline. They could also get something for Anthony Davis, be it draft picks, role players, or both. That would drastically alter their roster. The Nets are playing on the second of back-to-back road games. Look for Brooklyn to tire out in the second half, and for Daniel Gafford to have an impact in the frontcourt. Put a unit on the Mavericks' moneyline.
Boston Celtics vs Indiana Pacers: Monday 1/12
Game Time: 7:30 PM ET | TV: Peacock |Â Location:Â Gainbridge Fieldhouse |Â Odds:Â BOS -5.5 | O/U 224.5
- Prediction: BOS -6 (-110 on FanDuel Sportsbook)Â
The Indiana Pacers are red-hot and on a roll! Well, they have won consecutive games for the first time since December fifth and eighth. Over a month without consecutive winning games, and they are only the worst team in the Association by 0.5 games. That may be too close for comfort for a tanking team, and they can return to their losing ways against the Boston Celtics.
The Celtics are currently third in the Eastern Conference, but need to shake off losing two of their last three games. This is the first of a four-game road trip for Boston, and this is the easiest game on their schedule. It’s not a must-win, but it is a should-win. And a third-place team against the worst team in the Association has to put these games away with double-digit wins. Put a unit on the Boston Celtics to cover the -6 point spread.

NBA Prop Bet Today, 1/12
The Los Angeles Clippers host the Charlotte Hornets in an Eastern versus Western Conference battle. Both teams are in the bottom third of their respective conference, but have shown some signs of life. Each team could make a run to get back into the play-in, and possibly push a top-ranked team in a seven-game series. There is also the realistic option that some players are being displayed for a possible trade.
Ivica Zubac falls under both categories. He could be a foundational piece of a comeback run for the Clippers, or he could be a difference maker for an organization that feels they are a good center away from a title… and there are a few franchises that believe just that. He has the advantage in this match today and should be the difference maker for Los Angeles.Â
Over his last four games, Zubac is averaging 30 minutes per game and has 11 rebounds in two of those four games. Derrick Jones and Bogdan Bogdanovic are both out, and Kawhi Leonard is listed as questionable. It’s setting up to be a 32+ minute game for Zubac, with most of the rebounding duties belonging to him. Put a unit on the best bet of over 10.5 rebounds for the Clippers' big man today.
