Tonight is quite a busy evening for a Wednesday as we have a 12-game MLB DFS main slate to work with. There are some hefty names taking the mound tonight (Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole, and Aaron Nola among others) which means that we really have to search for value. That value comes in the form of both your second pitcher and on the offensive side of things and we should follow along with all of the latest MLB news, MLB weather, and MLB lineups. Now, let us take a look at who some of those MLB DFS value picks might be.

DFS Value Pitchers

Michael Lorenzen (LAA); DraftKings - $6,200; FanDuel - $7,800; Yahoo - $31

Since making his return after being sidelined for more than two months, Lorenzen has pitched at least five innings in each start while also posting double-digit DK points in each outing. We should note that the first of those starts did come against the Astros which is not exactly the softest landing spot, but it was his best outing in the sense that he only allowed one run. While Lorenzen allowed three runs in each of his next two starts, he combined for 13 strikeouts over 10 innings which made for a much better DFS performance. Facing Oakland tonight should lead to more success for Lorenzen as the A’s are hitting just .217 as a team while striking out 23.7% of the time.

José Quintana (STL); DraftKings - $6,700; FanDuel - $8,500; Yahoo - $36

I might not be brightest at all times, but what am I missing here? Milwaukee is a solid team competing for a Wild Card spot, but that is not enough force Quintana’s price into this territory on DK. To take things further, Quintana has put up 28.2 and 28 DK points in his last starts and his price has gone from $7.8k to $7.5k to the $6.7k it is tonight. On the season, Quintana’s ERA sits at just 3.03 on the season and he has allowed home runs at the rate of just 0.46 per nine innings. In 25.1 innings so far in September, the left-hander has allowed just two runs with hitters batting .182 against him. Utilizing Quintana gives you a fair amount of freedom with where to go on the other pitching spot.

DFS Value Hitters

Mark Vientos, 3B/SS (NYM); DraftKings - $2,400; FanDuel - $2,100; Yahoo - $9

Vientos figures to be in the starting lineup tonight as the Mets face southpaw in Jesús Luzardo. The rookie was promoted to the major leagues earlier this month with a fair amount of buzz and it is no secret that he can handle left-handed pitching pretty well. Over the weekend, Vientos got two starts in Oakland and responded by going three for six with a double, two RBI, and his first career major league home run showing he can produce at the big-league level. Also, let us not forget that Vientos is eligible at the catcher position on Yahoo.

CJ Abrams, SS (WAS); DraftKings - $2,200; FanDuel - $2,100; Yahoo - $10

When we last saw Jake Odorizzi things were not going so well for the right-hander so targeting him tonight might not be the worst approach. In the four games prior to last night, Abrams was seven for 14 at the plate with two doubles, and RBI, three runs scored, and two stolen bases with none of it being a surprise given our expectations for heading into the season. Abrams went hitless last night but he did manage to steal a base and score a run so from a DFS perspective, all was well. With a .304 batting average and 11 runs scored in September we are beginning to get closer to what we thought we would see from the shortstop and he remains a cost-effective DFS option.

Jesús Aguilar, 1B (BAL); DraftKings - $2,000; FanDuel - $2,400; Yahoo - $7

This season has not gone according to plan in the least for Aguilar but with 16 home runs and 51 RBI, he is still a powerful threat the plate. He has not been playing every day since joining the Orioles, but tonight is the perfect spot for him against Rich Hill as he has the platoon advantage against the veteran left-hander who has a 6.75 ERA so far in September. Of the 13 home runs Hill has allowed this season, 12 have come against right-handed pitching and the Green Monster will certainly be inviting tonight.

Joc Pederson, OF (SF); FanDuel - $2,600; Yahoo - $15

I guess the price on Pederson at DK of $5.3k is payback for the price on Quintana, but I guess we should note that he is facing the Rockies in San Francisco and not Colorado. It is hard to argue with the matchup for Pederson tonight as he faces José Ureña after going deep for the 23rd time this season on Tuesday. Entering action last night, Pederson had 22 home runs and 66 RBI in 404 plate appearances and it is hard to argue with his 15.1% barrel-rate and 52.8% hard-hit rate.
