Good afternoon, FAmily! It’s Friday and that means it’s a large major league baseball slate.  Tonight’s DFS slate starts at 7:05p ET on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo Fantasy. The weather forecast tonight calls for a cold and wet night in Minnesota (LAA @ MINN) so be sure to check our MLB Weather Center before lock for updates. We also have MLB Lineups, MLB Vegas Odds plus projections, and a lineup builder in our Fantasy Alarm MLB Tools page. To get the big arms and bats in your lineups you will need to find some value plays and that’s where we come in. I have spent the morning researching and coming up with the best point per dollar plays on the slate. So, let’s get right into it and open Friday’s MLB DFS Value Vault...

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Jeffrey Springs (TAM) $8.2K DK/$7.9K FD/ $40 Yahoo

I am a big Jeffrey Springs fan. The young lefty carried my main season-long teams when half of my staff was on the IL in mid-summer, and he comes into tonight’s game against the Blue Jays with an 8-4 record on the season and a solid 2.45 ERA/1.09 WHIP. Yes, I usually have concerns with his leash, but he is coming off a 94-pitch start against Texas, and he threw nearly 80 at Rogers Center in the start before that. Over his last five starts, Springs is carrying a 3.46 FIP with a 2.39 ERA and a nice 25.7% strikeout rate and even better he's posted a 0.89 ERA/0.98 WHIP in 20.1 innings over four starts this month.  He is home tonight in pitcher-friendly Tropicana Field and the Blue Jays have been struggling against left-handers as of late with a 77 wRC+, .137 ISO/.272wOBA, and 26.6% strikeout rate over the last two weeks.

Lucas Giolito (CWS) $7.7K DK/$37 Yahoo

It has been a disappointing season for Lucas Giolito, but he is still in play tonight on both DraftKings and Yahoo due to price and matchup. Amid all the talk of his poor 2022 season, Giolito still has five straight games with double-digit fantasy points and will face the team we picked on the most this season- the Tigers. He will be at home with the wind blowing in (8 mph) and the Tigers continue to be a horrific offense as they are striking out at a 26.9% clip over the last two weeks to right-handed pitching and on the season have been the worst hitting team in the majors against righties with a team .111 ISO/.273wOBA mark.

DFS Value Hitters

Jurickson Profar (SDP) $3.7K DK/$3.1K FD/$12 Yahoo

Jurickson Profar, a switch-hitter is an everyday player for the first time since 2018, the leadoff hitter of choice for a playoff-starved franchise that will finally be playing in mid-October. The Padres will be in Coors tonight and Profar may be breaking out of a mini-slump as he collected his first extra-base hit in eight games on Tuesday and then followed it up yesterday with another double and a home run (21 DKFP) against the Cardinals. So, Profar will be carrying some momentum into Coors tonight and will be facing right-hander Ryan Feltner who has a 4.96 FIP on the season and over his last five starts has recorded a 5.22 FIP and 6.56 ERA/1.59 WHIP.

Edward Olivares (KCR) $3.2K DK/$2.4K FD/$14 Yahoo

Edward Olivares tends to fly right under the radar. It didn’t help that he missed a couple of months on the IL, but he is now back and once again crushing left-handed pitching. Tonight, he should be in the middle of the order facing southpaw Marco Gonzales and brings with him a .353 ISO/.429wOBA and 50% hard contact to go along with a .324/.378/.676 slash with 1.054 OPS on the split. It’s a limited sample size but those are elite-level platoon splits. Olivares also owns the second-longest active hitting streak in all of baseball as he has now gone nine straight games with at least a hit and is slashing .353/.405/.529 in that span.

Kerry Carpenter (DET) $2.6K DK/$2.7K FD/$13 Yahoo

I am slowly becoming a big Kerry Carpenter fan. The kid can flat-out hit and has now hit a home run in back-to-back games. Even better is that he is raking right-handed pitching since his call-up to the big leagues. He has a .309 ISO/.399wOBA with nearly 50% hard contact and flyball rates and is slashing .294/.355/.603 with a .958 OPS on the split. Over his last 11 games, he is hitting .324 with four bombs and will be facing righty Lucas Giolito who is a bit reverse splits but is not immune to the home run ball with 23 allowed on the season.
