Good morning, FAmily! Happy Friday and no better way to start your weekend than with some major league baseball! Today’s DFS slate starts at 7:05p ET on DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo Fantasy with all three sites carrying 13 games. The weather forecast looks pretty good but make sure to check our MLB Weather Center before lock. We also have MLB Lineups, MLB Vegas Odds plus projections and a lineup builder in our Fantasy Alarm MLB Tools page. To get the big arms and bats in your lineups you will need to find some value plays and that’s where we come in. I have spent the morning researching and coming up with the best point per dollar plays on the slate. So, let’s get right into it and open Friday’s MLB DFS Value Vault.

MLB DFS VALUE PITCHERS

Nick Pivetta (BOS) $8.8K DK/$8.5K FD/$35 Yahoo

It’s been an up and down year for Nic Pivetta. The red Sox right-hander got off to a rough start this season but after a few bad starts, he was dominant in May and June, posting a 2.18 ERA over 78 1/3 innings, holding opposing batters to a .193/.251/.309 line. He went back downhill in July- like the rest of his team- when he allowed 25 earned runs over 24 total innings.

When the calendar turned to August, Pivetta was doing fine again, and he hadn’t allowed more than three runs since the end July until it fall apart again at home against the Rays in his last start. Tonight, though, Boston is actually a decent size favorite (-180 on the money line) against the Rangers. Since August 1st Texas has a 25% strikeout rate against righties along with a .132 team ISO so Pivetta is in play on a weak pitching slate in all formats tonight.

Dean Kremer (BAL) $7.1K DK/$8.7K FD/$41 Yahoo

Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer is 6-4 on the season with a 3.23 ERA/1.22 WHIP and looks to continue his series of strong starts when he takes the ball tonight to start an important weekend series against Oakland. Over his past three outings, Kremer is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA, 13 strikeouts and three walks. On Saturday he was dominant against the mighty Astros by giving up only one run and four hits over 7 2/3 innings -- his longest start of the season. The Orioles are still in the Wild Card hunt and have a huge series coming up next with Toronto, but they need to get by the weak hitting A’s first- a team that is striking out 24.4% to right-handed pitching with a horrid team .123 ISO/.285 wOBA. Kremer, who has a 2.67 FIP/1.01 WHIP over his last five starts is a strong tournament play tonight.

MLB DFS VALUE HITTERS

Lars Nootbaar (STL) $3.9K DK/$3.3K FD

Lars Nootbaar is making his name well known as the Cardinals move towards a fourth straight postseason berth. He had a huge August with a .284 batting behind five home runs, 15 RBIs and 22 runs scored. His 23 walks in the month were third in all of baseball, only behind superstars Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. Over his last 20 games he has a .299 ISO/.411wOBA with a 158.4 wRC+ and gets a near elite LvR platoon matchup with Adrian Sampson and the Cubs. Nootbaar has a .267 ISO/.373wOBA to go along with a .255/.368/.522 with .890 season slash on the split. Sampson, on the other hand, gets raked by left-handed batters to the tune of a .202 ISO/.357wOBA with a 4.98xFIP. As long as Nootbaar keeps raking and leading off in front of bats like Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado, he is a top value in all formats.

Gavin Sheets (CWS) $2.3K DK/$3.2K FD/$16 Yahoo

Gavin Sheets is a near misprice on DraftKings. The White Sox left-handed batter should be in the middle of the order tonight as the Twins trot out right-handed veteran Sonny Gray. Sheets generates elite power when facing right-handed pitching as all 12 of his home runs come on the LvR split. He also has a slash of .263/.318/.458 with a .776 ISO compared to .182/.250/.242 with a .492 ISO to southpaws. Sheets is also hitting .382 with a .309 ISO against right-handed pitching over the last month and is 3-for-4 with a home run against Gray.

Stone Garrett (ARI) $2.3K DK/$3.1K FD

The Diamondbacks are frequently members of the Value vault as they keep pumping out good, young hitters that are starting off strong right from jump. Stone Garrett can now be added to that list as he is hitting .420 over the last week with a couple of home runs and a .500 ISO/.550wOBA. He should be in the lineup tonight against the left-handed Eric Lauer since Garrett has posted a .364 ISO/.620wOBA on the split in a limited sample size of course. Lauer has a weak 4.92xFIP and high 9.0 walk rate on the season plus a mediocre 3.00 ERA/1.33 WHIP over his last five starts making Garrett a nice value play at minimum price.
