Good morning, FAmily! It’s Thursday, so that means “Get Away Day” in major league baseball! It is usually a smaller schedule on Thursday’s due to teams getting ready to travel to their weekend series destinations. Today’s MLB DFS slate starts at 6:40p ET on FanDuel (six games) and 7:20p ET on DraftKings and Yahoo Fantasy (five games). The MLB weather report forecast looks fairly clear tonight but it is early so make sure to check our MLB Weather Center before locking in daily fantasy baseball lineups. We also have MLB Lineups, MLB Vegas Odds, MLB daily projections, and an MLB DFS lineup builder in our Fantasy Alarm MLB Tools page. To get the big arms and bats in your MLB daily fantasy lineups, you will need to find some value plays and that’s where we come in. I have spent the morning researching and coming up with the best point-per-dollar plays on the slate. So, let’s get right into it and open Thursday’s MLB DFS Value Vault.

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Sean Manaea (SD) – $7.6K DK/$8.7K FD/$29 Yahoo

Sean Manaea will re-enter the Padres rotation tonight for the series opener at Chase Field in Arizona. He was skipped over in his last turn in the rotation due to his horrible numbers against the Dodgers but is back tonight. Manaea is 7-8 with a 5.23 ERA/1.36 WHIP and has lost his last two starts while giving up 14 runs and 19 hits in 8 1/3 innings during the span. However, Manaea has been solid against the Diamondbacks in 2022, going 2-0 with a 2.88 ERA in four starts. He has allowed just 14 hits in 25 innings while striking out 23. Plus, the D-backs are only hitting at a .123 ISO/.271 wOBA clip against left-handed pitching over the last 15 days. Manaea is 4-1 with a 3.38 ERA in seven career starts against Arizona and does have an 8.9 K/9 rate over his last five starts.

Noah Syndergaard (LAA) – $8.3K FD

Noah Syndergaard is only the sixth-most expensive pitcher out of 12 on the FanDuel slate tonight. The Phillies are currently sitting in a NL Wild Card spot and have won five straight as every game becomes more important than the previous one. Syndergaard is 9-9 on the season with a 4.09 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Since being acquired in a trade with the Angels on Aug. 2, he's 4-1 with a 4.61 ERA in seven starts for the Phillies. Tonight, he is facing a Marlins team that continues to struggle offensively as they have a slate-worst 27.5% strikeout rate to right-handed pitching over the last 15 days – plus an extremely low .104 ISO/.237 wOBA in the same time span. With a solid 3.75 FIP over his last five starts, Thor is in play tonight as a cheaper tournament play.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Jose Miranda (MIN) – $3.3K DK/$3.0K FD/$19 Yahoo

Jose Miranda knows how to hit. The Minnesota Twins' reigning minor league player of the year has batted .305/.366/.498 in 84 games since his late-May call-up as he quickly progressed from part-timer to everyday player to middle-of-the-lineup staple. He has shown power and plate discipline with 14 homers and 20 doubles, and he has done it striking out less often than the league average.  Miranda has the ability to drive fastballs and off-speed pitches to all fields and is now hitting .330 over the last week with a.447 wOBA. Tonight, he faces Daniel Lynch, a pretty bad left-hander whom Miranda has already taken yard once and has four hits in eight at-bats against. Combine that with a .282 ISO/352 wOBA with 47% hard contact on the RvL split and you have one of the top value plays of the night.

Wil Myers (SDP) – $2.8K DK/$2.9K FD/$14 Yahoo

Since returning from a two-month stint on the Injured List back on August 1, Wil Myers is slashing .271/.330/.438 with three homers over 106 plate appearances. He has been a very boom or bust option during his time in San Diego alternating between periods with an OPS of .900 or higher and periods with a .500 or .600 OPS (.768 OPS since the 8/1 return). One thing about Myers as of late is that he has shortened up his swing and is putting the ball in play much more often while striking out only five times in his last 30 plate appearances. Myers is hitting .500 over the last seven days and a solid .281 with a .219 ISO/.363wOBA over the last 20 games. He and the Padres face Drey Jameson, who was getting rocked in the minor leagues to the tune of a 7-13 overall record with a 6.31 ERA and 1.49 WHIP at Double-A and Triple-A.

TJ Friedl (CIN) – $3.1K DK/$3.0K FD/$17 Yahoo

T.J. Friedl has been in the Value Vault more than any other player of the last couple of weeks. He has been on fire since being recalled from Triple-A Louisville back on August 16th. Over those 100 plate appearances, the fast leadoff hitter has scored 16 runs while collecting 28 hits – plus he's jacked six home runs in that span to go along with five RBI. Tonight, the Cincinnati Reds outfielder gets the platoon advantage against right-hander Miles Mikolas, who allows plenty of hard contact (39%). Friedl has a .180 ISO with a 45.3% flyball and 38.4% hard contact on the LvR split and will be in play again tonight in all formats.
