Tonight’s MLB DFS slate is pretty consistent across the board as DraftKings, Yahoo and FanDuel will all start at 7:05 pm ET with the only difference being in which sites choose to include doubleheaders. Starting pitching is full of star-power today with studs like Gerrit Cole, Justin Verlander, and Carlos Rodón – all of which are over $10,000 on DK, so finding value will be needed. One of my top value arms is Michael Lorenzen as he has been great against the Oakland Athletics this season. Meanwhile, a scorching hot Whit Merrifield is my top value bat for MLB daily fantasy lineups. We do have a couple MLB weather report concerns on this slate, so make sure to check the weather center leading up to first pitch. Plus, don’t forget to check out MLB implied runs totals using our Vegas Odds link. Lastly, use our MLB lineups page, MLB daily projections, and MLB DFS lineup generator for your daily fantasy baseball needs. Let’s now dive into our MLB DFS top picks in the value range for Tuesday, October 4th!

MLB DFS Pitchers

Michael Lorenzen, Angels (DraftKings - $6800 / Yahoo - $39)

Lorenzen faced the A’s in his last start and was dominant, firing five shutout innings with eight strikeouts in a win to finish with 27.7 dk points. He has dominated the A’s all season long in fact, going 3-0 against them with a 0.50 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 16 Ks across 18 innings (three starts). He has scored at least 16.9 dk points in three straight outings. Oakland is 29th in runs per game this season and have the 11th highest strikeout rate, making this one of the best possible matchups for a pitcher.

Sean Manaea, Padres (DraftKings - $6500 / Yahoo - $26)

Manaea has been pretty awful this season with a 5.15 ERA and 1.34 WHIP, but he does have 150 Ks across 152 innings and that provides us with decent upside at his price tag. He has been a lot better at home with a 3.93 ERA, compared to 6.16 on the road. The Giants have the 8th highest strikeout rate in baseball this season, so there is certainly upside with Manaea today.

MLB DFS Hitters

Whit Merrifield, Blue Jays (DraftKings - $3200 / FanDuel - $2400)

Whit was a core play for me yesterday and he went a perfect 3-3 with two RBI to finish with 15 dk points. He simply can’t be stopped right now. He is slashing an insane .474/.475/.895 over his last 11 games with four home runs, four doubles, 11 RBI, and nine runs scored. He is hitting .256 against righties this season with 14 steals, compared to .241 against lefties with two steals. The Blue Jays are in a strong stacking spot today against Baumann.

Raimel Tapia, Blue Jays (DraftKings - $2400 / FanDuel - $2500 / Yahoo - $11)

Did I mention the Blue Jays? Tapia is slashing .306/.342/.472 over his last 10 games with a home run and 8 runs scored. He is now hitting .266 on the year with seven dingers and eight steals. He iis slashing .279/.300/.423 on the road this season while averaging 6.5 dk ppg, compared to a .252/.286/.342 line at home with a dk ppg average of just 4.6. Him and Whit provide a great start to a Jays stack as they are both hot and are both very cheap.

Christian Yelich, Brewers (FanDuel - $3000 / Yahoo - $9)

I get the matchup is tough against Gallen, definitely not ideal, but Yelich has scored double-digit DFS points in three straight games with two home runs, a steal, three RBI, and three runs scored in that span. He has been much better at home this season with a .790 OPS, compard to a .694 OPS on the road. I wouldn’t play him in cash games, but I think he is a pretty nice GPP play on these two sites with his price tag being so cheap (too pricey on DK for me though).
