On the eve of a holiday weekend, tonight’s MLB DFS main slate offers up a moderately sized group of games to work with. DraftKings gets things started an hour earlier than normal with seven games to build daily fantasy baseball lineups. Meanwhile, FanDuel and Yahoo Fantasy start their MLB daily fantasy lineups an hour later with five games to choose from. With the wind blowing out at Wrigley Field, some of the MLB DFS top plays tonight could come from the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs. Some top value options for Thursday's games include Milwaukee Brewers slugger Rowdy Tellez, as explained below. As usual, it is important to stay up to date with the latest MLB news, today's MLB weather report, and confirmed MLB lineups. Be sure to use the MLB daily projections as well when building daily fantasy baseball lineups. Now, let's take a look at some MLB DFS top picks for value options for Thursday, June 30.

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

DraftKings - $5,100; FanDuel - $8,100; Yahoo - $29

The wind is projected to blow out tonight at Wrigley Field and Vegas has the Reds projected to score five runs tonight – so it might feel a little dangerous to go after Kyle Hendricks. Still, Cincinnati’s offense isn’t too scary, options are limited tonight…and did you see that price on DK? In his last 10 starts, Hendricks has averaged 9.7 DK points per game but there is a great deal of variability within it. Two of his last three starts have been pretty successful and Hendricks is coming off his best start of the season with 7.1 innings of scoreless baseball against St. Louis in which he scattered five hits while walking just one. Hendricks has a 4.90 ERA overall this season and he has trouble with the long ball, but he is also a veteran pitcher with a solid matchup.

DraftKings - $5,400; FanDuel - $8,400; Yahoo - $31

Once again, DK is giving us a crazy amount of value on a starting pitcher. While it’s very possible Adrian Houser could be a bust, at the same time, it is hard to ignore from a GPP perspective. Houser has gotten through six innings in three of his last four starts and while he did allow five runs in his last start, the right-hander recorded 14 outs on the ground. With a 48.1% ground ball percentage overall, Houser does a good job of keeping the ball out of the air and he has a solid rate of 0.73 home runs per nine innings. Through 73 innings, and 14 starts, Houser has a 4.50 ERA (3.86 FIP). Opposing hitters don’t do the best job of barreling up against Houser (5.1% barrel rate) and we also like his 9.4-degree launch angle.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

DraftKings - $3,500; FanDuel - $3,200; Yahoo - $14

In two of his last three games, Rowdy Tellez has gone deep twice so he is clearly locked in from a long ball perspective. The platoon splits tonight will certainly work in Tellez’s favor as 13 of his 15 home runs have come against right-handed pitching along with 40 of his 47 RBI. I expect to see Tellez in the middle of Milwaukee’s lineup once again tonight as he has been a solid source of power so far this season with .245 ISO and a 12.4% barrel rate.

DraftKings - $2,900; FanDuel - $2,300; Yahoo - $16

We know that Tampa Bay is the master of managing splits and platoon advantages so it should not come as a surprise to see Harold Ramírez batting third tonight against Toronto's struggling southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. Ramirez has at least one hit in six of his last seven games and is hitting .458 over his last 10 games with six RBI. In 42 innings so far this season, right-handed hitters are batting .275 against Kikuchi with 11 home runs with Ramirez hitting .390 against southpaws in 66 plate appearances with one home run and eight RBI.

DraftKings - $3,100; FanDuel - $2,300; Yahoo - $13

As I mentioned above, the wind is blowing out tonight at Wrigley so we are going to want some exposure to the Cubs’ bats tonight. Beginning with the projected lead-off hitter in Rafael Ortega is a good place to start with a Chicago stack as the platoon advantage works to his advantage. All four of Ortega’s home runs along with all 17 of his RBI have come in his 191 plate appearances against right-handed pitching and with a 12.4% walk rate, the outfielder does a good job of getting on base while also picking up five steals.

DraftKings - $2,500; FanDuel - $2,400; Yahoo - $7

Finding a catcher, especially an affordable one, is often not easy and Gabriel Moreno gives us that tonight. He has the platoon advantage against Tampa Bay’s bulk pitcher tonight, Ryan Yarbrough, and Moreno also benefits from Toronto’s strong lineup. We know all about Moreno’s minor league success and prospect pedigree, and in 12 games at the big league level so far this year, he is hitting .316 with four RBI while striking out just 5.1% of the time.
