As we celebrate Father’s Day, there is a full day of baseball ahead of us. Depending on which site you are playing, the main slate is vastly different, with all beginning at 1:35 on the east coast. DraftKings gives us a solid eight game slate while FanDuel brings Coors Field into the mix and Yahoo Fantasy includes all 14 games. DFS Value Pitchers

 

Dane Dunning (TEX); DraftKings - $7,800; FanDuel - $8,600; Yahoo - $38

In his last ten starts, Dunning has averaged 15.2 DK points and he is coming off six shutout innings against the Astros in his most recent start. Dunning is striking out close to a batter an inning so far this season to go along with a respectable 4.04 ERA, but based on his advanced metrics (3.51 xFIP) things are looking good for the right-hander this season. A 53.9% ground ball rate helps here, but what should help even more today is his matchup against Detroit. 

 

Mitch Keller (PIT); DraftKings - $7,000; FanDuel - $7,400; Yahoo - $27

It feels like we have been waiting forever for Keller to realize his potential as a top prospect, and at this point, it’s still unclear if he ever will. In his last three starts though Keller has allowed four earned runs over 16.1 innings while striking out 14 and generating 24 groundballs. While Keller has a 5.07 ERA on the season, the right-hander’s xERA of 4.33 generates more optimism and his 48.8% ground ball rate also works to his advantage. Opposing hitters have just an 8.2-degree launch angle against Keller so far this season, and he appears to be finding at least a little bit of groove. 

DFS Value Hitters

 

Riley Greene, OF (DET); DraftKings - $2,000; FanDuel - $2,000; Yahoo - $17

I know that I just highlighted Dunning as a favorable pitching option against Detroit, but at the same time it’s pretty difficult to ignore the prolific rookie. Both DraftKings and FanDuel haven’t moved Greene out of minimum price territory so that makes it pretty difficult to ignore the top prospect. In his major league debut on Saturday, Greene reached base four times in five at bats with two singles and two walks while also scoring two runs. His price will only go up from here, so enjoy it while it lasts. 

 

Tyler O’Neill, OF (STL); DraftKings - $3,500; FanDuel - $2,600; Yahoo - $13

To say that 2022 hasn’t gone according to plan for O’Neill to this point would be an understatement as he is hitting just .228 on the season. In 11 games so far in June the outfielder is hitting .275 as he looks to get back on track after a stint on the Injured List. If we want to ride the hot hand, O’Neill went 3 for 4 on Saturday as he hit his fourth home run of the season. 

 

Josh Donaldson, 3B (NYY); DrafKings - $4,200; FanDuel - $2,800; Yahoo - $12

While we haven’t seen it yet this year, Donaldson generally does perform better against southpaws such as today’s opponent, Yusei Kikuchi. It’s hard to find a better offense right now than what is going on the Bronx and as he slots into the middle of the order, the third baseman stands to continue benefitting; or maybe to start benefitting. In 48 games so far this season, Donaldson has five home runs and 18 RBI, but overall, it has been a disappointing season. At some point, the third baseman and his 10.4% barrel-rate should start to hit, and as the Yankees continue to string runs together, Donaldson is a cheap piece of the stack. 

 

Jeff McNeil, 2B/OF (NYM); DraftKings - $3,800; FanDuel - $2,900; Yahoo - $13

While Sandy Alcantara is on top of his game as of late, McNeil is simply too good of a hitter for the price point; especially on FD and Yahoo. In 157 at bats, McNeil is hitting .338 against right-handed pitching and with a .348 batting average in June, he is having his best month of the season to this point. McNeil is working on a modest six game hitting streak and has hits in eight of his last nine games while batting .324 overall with 33 RBI and 31 runs scored.
